Airport to Negombo
You'll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and get transferred to Negombo for your first night. Spend the afternoon getting your bearings and relaxing on the beach. The town has quite a bit of history, with the old Dutch Fort still standing, plus a Catholic Church worth seeing. If you're interested, check out the seafood auctions that happen regularly and draw local crowds. You're staying overnight in Negombo.

Negombo to Habarana
After breakfast, you'll head to Habarana. Later in the evening, take a one-hour ride on an elephant's back through the village and get a feel for the area. Habarana National Park has wild elephants roaming around, and you might spot Sambar deer, spotted storks, and if you're lucky, leopards. Staying overnight in Habarana.

Minneriya National Park
Start early for a full day game drive at Minneriya National Park, which covers about 8,889 hectares. The park's known for its wild elephant population and you'll also see various amphibians, birds, reptiles, and butterfly species throughout the day. Lunch features traditional Sri Lankan food. You're back in Habarana for the night.

Pidurangala - Dambulla
Leave early to climb Sigiriya, an ancient rock fortress and UNESCO World Heritage site. The climb up the 200-meter rock column is challenging but worth it. After that, head to Pidurangala Rock for views back at Sigiriya. On the way, stop at the Golden Temple in Dambulla to see five caves with 157 Buddha statues and detailed murals. You'll have traditional Sri Lankan lunch and catch a cultural show in the evening. Overnight in Dambulla.

Matale - Kandy
Transfer to Kandy, stopping at the Aluvihare Rock Temple on the way. Once there, explore the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO site that holds Buddha's sacred tooth. Take a walk around Kandy Lake, which has nice views. Browse the bazaar and check out the arts and crafts center, gem museum, and shops. Staying overnight in Kandy.

Millennium Elephant Foundation - Peradeniya Botanical Gardens

Then head to Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, which started back in 1843 and covers 147 acres with orchids, exotic plants, and scenic areas. Later, check out more of Kandy's cultural spots like the bazaar and the tooth relic temple. Overnight in Kandy.

Check out Ramboda Waterfalls, Hakgala Botanical Gardens with roses and tree ferns, and the colorful Seetha Amman Temple. Gregory Lake is nice for the cooler climate, and Victoria Park is worth a look. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya
Have breakfast then spend your day at leisure or visit Horton Plains National Park, a 2,130-meter high plateau with great views. On clear days you can see the sea over 80 kilometers away. Stop at Ambewela Farm and a strawberry farm on the way. The plateau has unique plants like rhododendrons and orchids, plus bird species you won't find elsewhere. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya to Kithulgala
After breakfast, transfer to Kithulgala on your way toward Colombo. This scenic area is famous for being where they filmed the Oscar-winning 'Bridge on the River Kwai.' The Kelani River, Sri Lanka's broadest river, runs through here. You can do natural rock pool sliding and confidence jumps at Kitulgala Adventures Camp, or try optional white water rafting on the Kelani River. Lunch and tea with snacks are included.
