- MMartha· November 25th, 2019This 4 day, 3 night Salkantay via Inca Trail trek was hands down one of the best adventures I’ve ever done in my life. - RRen· November 5th, 2019My friends and I trekked the 4 day Salkantay via Inca Trail and we are very happy with our experience with APT. Action Peru Treks was a top-notch trekking company and I would for sure recommend this trek and this company to everyone. - DDavidPeirce· January 27th, 2019My son and I had an unbelievable journey with Action Peru Treks. They took care of everything. They communicated spectacularly as we were planning and prior to our arrival and then delivered a trip that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Roxner was knowledgeable about the history of the region. The food and service throughout was amazing. Of course, the highlight was Machu Picchu, and the history talk and guided tour from Roxner were first class. We will be back for another trip with Action Peru Treks!Show moreTrip date: August 2015
- CCharlotteRobson· January 25th, 2019I went on a school trip in 2013, a long time ago! I had the most amazing time, saw the most beautiful sights and spent time with the most realest, genuine people ever. 6 years later and I can still remember every moment and I am hoping to be back there very soon! I love Peru and I couldn’t thank Rox and his team more!Show moreTrip date: June 2015

Asked on June 27th, 2024Does this price include the Inca Trail Pass?
- Action Peru TreksOperator•Written June 2024
This is an alternative trek that combines the Salkantay and Inca Trail trek. So, we do not require the regular Inca Trail permit to hike on it. This trek allows you to hike in one portion of the Classic Inca Trail but not in the whole classic Inca Trail.

Cindy
Asked on January 3rd, 2024Could you tell me how difficult it is?
- Action Peru TreksOperator•Written January 2024
The trek is not the most challenging, but involves walking over hilly and rugged terrain with ups and downs. Expect long, steep ascents especially on day 2. Hiking is on well-defined tracks including ancient Inca trails. The altitude can make hiking feel about twice as difficult as at sea level. Horses will carry your personal gear (8kg per hiker), so you'll only need a day pack of around 4 kg.

Traveler•Written January 2024Is there some way (obviously at our own cost), that we can get back to Coscu or Aguas Calientes if we find it too difficult?
- Action Peru TreksOperator•Written January 2024
In rare instances when someone has not felt well enough to finish the hike, they have been escorted back to Cusco and generally felt well enough to re-join the group in Machu Picchu via train a few days later. Guides carry an oxygen tank and first aid kit. Cusco has the nearest modern medical facilities, and guides have pre-established evacuation strategies.

Asked on December 21st, 2018Do I need an Inca Trail permit?
- Action Peru TreksOperator•Written December 2018
Yes! Please ensure that there are permits available on your date of travel before you book your tour, as the Peruvian government only allow a small number of trekkers and permits per day to preserve the natural beauty of the Inca Trail. Please contact your Travel Expert for permit availabilities.
