Itinerary
- Day 1
Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and head to your hotel in the Ribeirinha district, right along the Douro River. Your leader and fellow travelers will meet up around 5:30pm. There's an optional group dinner at a local restaurant if you want to experience some Portuguese hospitality right away.

Porto to Douro Valley
Starting early, you'll take a guided tour through Porto's historic center (a UNESCO site), hitting São Bento Station, the Cathedral, Saint Francis Church, Livraria Lello bookstore, and Clérigos Church with its tower. You'll have free time around midday to wander on your own. By 3pm, you're heading to the historic port wine cellars in Ribeirinha for a tasting. After that, a private bus takes you to the Douro Valley, about 90 minutes away.

Douro Valley to Coimbra
In the Douro Valley, you can choose between a leisurely boat cruise along the river or exploring on your own in the morning. Lunch comes with a wine tasting at an 18th-century estate surrounded by terraced vineyards overlooking where the Douro and Tedo rivers meet. Later in the afternoon, the bus heads to Coimbra, roughly two hours away.

Coimbra to Batalha
Coimbra's your destination today, and you'll get a guided tour of the main spots this morning: the University of Coimbra (founded way back in 1290 and UNESCO-listed), Sé Velha, and Sé Nova. The afternoon's free for your own exploration. Then you'll travel to Batalha for about an hour to see the Mosteiro da Batalha, a stunning Gothic structure built after the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota. You'll check out the Founders' Chapel, cloisters, and other sections.

Batalha to Óbidos
You're heading to Nazaré, the coastal village famous for those massive surfing waves. You'll have time to walk around, grab lunch, and take in the local vibe. From there, it's on to Óbidos, a small medieval village tucked behind fort walls with narrow streets and whitewashed buildings that locals have preserved carefully. You'll be staying overnight there.

Óbidos to Lisbon
An hour's drive gets you to Lisbon, one of Europe's liveliest capitals. This morning includes a guided walk through the Belém district where your guide points out major landmarks like the massive Jerónimos Monastery and the 16th-century Belém Tower. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax or explore Belém independently before heading to your hotel.

Lisbon
Today you're diving deeper into Lisbon on a guided walking tour. You can take an optional ride on the historic tram to the elegant Graça area if you want. Then it's a walking descent through Alfama, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods with colorful alleys and viewpoints you won't want to miss. Everything wraps up in Rossio at the city's heart. Bring comfortable shoes for those steep climbs. The afternoon and evening are free, and there's an optional fado experience available if you're interested.
