Asked on January 22nd, 2025Can you tell me more about the overnight train? Are their cabins and how many people? Also can you tell me more about the guest house. Is it like a small privately run hotel or is it actually someone's house?
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2025For the overnight train it will be a twin share arrangement, in 4-berth cabins. Bathroom facilities are on both sides of the carriage and a sheet, blanket and pillow are provided. You may wish to bring some snacks or simple food for your time on the train (dinner and breakfast). There's also a dining carriage on the train but the food options may be limited. The guesthouses are privately run I would compare it to a B&B almost. They don't have beds, so you'll be sleeping on the floor on a mattress with blankets and pillows provided. There will be 4 people sharing one room at the guest house. The amenities are simple, with a toilet and shower outside.

A single supplement is available for purchase on this departure however, it does exclude Days 2 (overnight train), 5 (Yurt Camp), 6 (Guesthouse) as we are not able to obtain a single supplement on these days. The cost to have this added would be GBP £240.

Asked on July 27th, 2024How soon should i apply for a visa to Turkmenistan. I am a US citizen and can i apply through evisa? Is the tour guarranteed even if I am the only person in that tour?

All travelers to Turkmenistan require a visa. A Letter of Invitation (LOI) issued by Turkmenistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also required before you can apply for the visa. Foreign tourists can apply for the visa with the official LOI at the nearest embassy or apply for Visa on arrival at either the Ashgabat airport or the land borders. Our local operator can apply for the LOI on your behalf, but we need a few documents to proceed with this. The LOI can only be applied within 3 months prior to your travel and it will be processed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkmenistan and usually take around 6-8 weeks to be processed, with up to 9-10 weeks in peak travel season not uncommon. We strongly suggest submitting all documents no later than 2 months before arrival in order to allow sufficient time for processing. As the minimum passenger requirement is 1, this trip will run if there at least 1 fully paid passenger.

Unfortunately, at this time no this itinerary will only be run in the direction it is, from Tashkent to Ashgabat. As tourism is slowly rebuilding in Uzbekistan post covid maybe in the future there will be more options and itineraries here but for now it will remain this direction only.
