Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi

    You'll land at Kilimanjaro International Airport where your All Weather Adventures representative meets you for the drive to Moshi town. After you check in at your hotel, this evening you'll meet your guide for a trek briefing and go through an equipment check. Gear rental is on hand if you need anything extra.

  2. Day 2

    Machame Gate to Machame Camp

    The drive from Moshi to Machame Gate takes about an hour. You'll connect with your trekking crew including your guide, porters, and cooker. After completing park formalities, you head into the rainforest to start the trek. The path climbs steadily and the terrain can be wet and muddy in spots.

  3. Day 3

    Machame Camp to Shira Camp 2

    You'll wake early and continue through the forest with a steep climb onto the Shira Plateau where you enter the low alpine zone. The moorlands and grasslands open up around you. Shira Camp 2 sits on the plateau itself, and from there you get your first look at Kibo to the northwest and Mount Meru to the east.

  4. Day 4

    Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp

    Trekking across high moorland on the southwest side of Kilimanjaro, you pass underneath the Lava Tower and the Western Breach section. Your camp ends up at roughly the same elevation where you started, but this day matters most for acclimatization since you climb high then sleep low.

  5. Day 5

    Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

    You descend into the Great Barranco ravine, then make a steep climb up the Great Barranco Wall. After passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, you head toward Karanga Valley. This is your last spot to get fresh water before you push for the summit.

  6. Day 6

    Karanga Camp to Uhuru Peak and Mweka Camp

    Summit day begins around midnight when you start climbing steeply through scree for 4 to 5 hours until you reach Stella Point (5739m) at sunrise. From there, continue to Uhuru Peak (5895m) where the views are something special. You descend back through Stella Point to Barafu Camp for breakfast, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

  7. Day 7

    Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Moshi

    The final trek day takes you on a gentle descent through rainforest down to Mweka Gate. You'll complete park formalities and receive your summit certificate. A vehicle then returns you to the hotel in Moshi for a shower and cold drinks to celebrate.

  8. Day 8

    Departure from Moshi

    Your climb is finished. A vehicle picks you up for the ride to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. If you have a safari lined up, the vehicle may take you to the next destination instead. If your flight leaves in the evening, hotel accommodation can be arranged for an additional fee.

    • For any tour departing before February 14th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 14th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with All Weather Adventures. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and All Weather Adventures will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
