- Day 1
Arrive New Delhi
You'll land in New Delhi and head to your hotel. If you arrive by 4pm, meet your tour leader at 5pm, then walk over to Hanuman's Temple to catch the evening prayer rituals. After that, check out the colonial-era shops and restaurants around Connaught Place.

New Delhi to Sariska National Park
This morning you'll see India Gate and Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO site that influenced the Taj Mahal's design. Grab lunch, then drive about 3.5 hours to Sariska National Park. You'll have free time at the lodge before dinner.

Sariska National Park
Early morning and afternoon game drives take you through Sariska National Park in open-topped private jeeps with a naturalist. Look for tigers (the park has roughly 30), leopards, jungle cats, jackals, and different deer species. The park tends to be less crowded than Ranthambore.

Sariska to Dholpur
You'll drive about 5 hours across the Indo-Gangetic plains into Uttar Pradesh, heading to Dholpur on the Chambal River. After lunch, take a private boat to search for critically endangered gharials, gangetic river dolphins, otters, turtles, and various birds.

Dholpur to Khajuraho
Short drive gets you to the train station for a two-hour train ride to Jhansi, then a 3-hour bus through central India into Madhya Pradesh. You'll arrive in Khajuraho with the afternoon free to wander around town.

- Day 6
Khajuraho
Start early with a 4WD game drive through Panna National Park's teak forests, plateaus, and gorges along the Ken River (over 200 bird species here). Later, explore the UNESCO temples of Khajuraho, checking out the hand-carved sculptures from the 9th-12th century, including the Kandariya Mahadev and Vishwanath temples.

Bandhavgarh
Two safaris today through Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, the former Maharaja's hunting grounds. Private 4WD vehicles hold just 4 people plus a naturalist. You'll spot royal bengal tigers, wild dogs, hyenas, spotted deer, and bison across the grasslands and sal forests.

Bandhavgarh to Kanha
Leave Bandhavgarh and drive about 6 hours to Kanha National Park with stops to refresh. You'll have a late lunch at the jungle lodge, then the afternoon is free.

Kanha National Park
Explore Kanha's 940 square kilometers of grassy meadows and deciduous forests (reportedly the inspiration for The Jungle Book). Two game drives in private 4WD vehicles show you tigers, leopards, sloth bears, bengal foxes, bison, rare indian antelope, and over 300 bird species.

Kanha National Park
Another day with morning and afternoon game drives in private 4WD vehicles and a naturalist. Morning drives are particularly nice as the sun comes up, though bring extra layers for winter since it gets cold.

Kanha to Jabalpur (Overnight Train to Delhi)
One last early morning game drive in Kanha before leaving the park. Drive 4 to 5 hours to Jabalpur with stops, then board an overnight train to Delhi in second-class air-conditioned sleepers (four beds per compartment with bedding included). Experience India's rail network and local travel culture.

Delhi (Old City)
Rest and freshen up after the overnight train. In the afternoon, walk through Old Delhi's narrow bazaar lanes to Chandni Chowk, then take a short cycle rickshaw to the Jama Masjid mosque (built by emperor shah jahan). Try street food like aloo chaat, paneer tikka, parathas, and rotis from local vendors.
