- Gary· October 13th, 2019Adventure Himalaya was not the tour operator as stated, We discovered on arrival that it was Bhutan Aries Tours and Treks. They did a very good job but we like to know who we are dealing with early on and have contact information in case unforeseen events occur. Our major disappointment involves the accommodations we received in Phodrang . In e-mails, websites, and in the itineraries, we were told we would be in 3 star hotels. In fact, the Bhutan Government Route Permit provided to us by Adventure Himalayan stated we we staying at the Dewachen Hotel with 3 stars. We were taken to the Thegchen Phodrang Guest House which is not rated as a hotel. We had to walk several minutes down a muddy road, then on arrival the electricity in the house was off and we were led to our room up a dangerously dark stairway. The electricity was later turned on. The room had no telephone, no WiFi, no television, was not properly heated, and in the morning there was no hot water. We checked booking websites and discovered the current rate for this guest house is $28 US per night. There were some fantastic walks, and we took the option to go rafting which was a great experience (at additional cost). Our driver Namgay was extremely humble, and was in touch with the local traditions and culture. His smile made every activity a pleasure. The company can tailor make your holiday to suit your interests. - Jen· July 3rd, 2018During 8 days in Bhutan, we explored and learned a lot of things about Bhutan, visited several historical and gorgeous Dzongs ( fortresses) got to enjoy the Tshechu festive day Bhutan pound ( the tallest Buddha statue in Bhutan) cycled uphill to see the Takin trekked to see the divine mad man's monastery and above all hiked up to Tiger's Nest. The Guide was really professional and he made us feel like they were our friends. They were so punctual and had great attention to details. They took care of everything we asked . I myself never went on tour as I was always the lone traveler and roamed across most of Asian countries. If you choose April 20, but still want to arrive on April 19, then we can help you book an extra day (including hotel, guide, the fees) for an additional cost of USD 370. Yes, the airport pickup will be provided. The visa application will be handled by us, and both the visa fee and the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) are already included in the total price of the tour. And yes, we will be hiking to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest).

Night time temperatures can drop to 2°C or below (32°F), especially in higher altitudes. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm jacket for the evenings.

The tour is mostly by vehicle but for one day is a 3 hours walk to the Tiger's Nest. If you don't want to walk then you can get a horse on hire there on the way to Tiger's Nest. During December the temperature during the day is around 15 degress celsius, but during the night it gets more cold (0 degree celsius).
