Itinerary
- Day 1
Paro to Thimphu
After landing at Paro Airport, your guide and driver will meet you for the drive to Thimphu, passing through mountains, rivers, and rice fields along the way. If you arrive in the morning, you'll have lunch and then visit the Nado Poizokhang Incense Factory and Gagyel Lhundrup Weaving Centre to see how local artisans work. Those arriving in the afternoon will meet the group for dinner and take an evening walk through Thimphu's streets to get oriented.

Thimphu
Start with a walk through paddy fields and woodlands leading to Cheri Dorji Dhen monastery, which was built back in 1620. From there, head to Buddha Dordenma to catch the views, then move on to Simply Bhutan living museum. You'll try archery, stop by the National Memorial Chorten, visit the national arts and crafts institute, and see the National Textile Museum. If you're interested, there's optional shopping at the National Handicrafts Emporium later in the day.

Thimphu to Punakha
The drive to Punakha includes a stop at Dochula Pass where you can see the eastern Himalayas and Gangkhar Puensum from above. Continue on with a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple that dates to 1499. You'll arrive in Punakha by evening and have time to settle in.

Punakha
After breakfast, you'll hike for about 1.5 hours to Khamsum Yulley Monastery with its decorated chorten. From there, head down to where the Pho Chu and Mo Chu Rivers meet, giving you views of Punakha Dzong and the cantilever bridge. Before returning to town, visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, which sits high on a mountaintop.

Punakha to Paro
You'll travel back over Dochula Pass and through Thimphu on the way to Paro Valley. The narrow roads mean the journey takes longer than the distance suggests, but that gives you time to relax and take in the scenery. After lunch, continue toward Paro, and if you arrive with enough daylight, there's an option to walk around town and get a feel for the place.

Landmarks/POIs Dochula Pass - Day 6
Paro
After an early breakfast and short drive, you'll hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery, which clings to a cliff 900 metres above the valley. The climb takes about an hour to reach a teahouse where you can enjoy views and have lunch. If you want, you can hike another 45 minutes to an hour each direction to see a chorten directly across from the temple. In the evening, you'll have a home-cooked meal at a local farmhouse and can optionally try a traditional hot stone bath.
