Itinerary
- Day 1
St. George to Trailhead
You'll start early from St. George and drive about 3 hours to reach a remote trailhead. From there, you're hiking 7.5 miles through a wash that gradually opens into a canyon as Navajo Sandstone walls start rising around you. Along the way, you'll pass a sandstone arch before reaching your first camp at a side canyon confluence.

Landmarks Navajo Sandstone Canyon Formation - Day 2
Canyon Exploration
This morning you have two options to explore. You can venture 1.5 miles into one of the world's longest and deepest slot canyons with 500-foot walls featuring red, yellow, and brown tones. Or head down the main drainage through cottonwood and boxelder trees with towering sandstone on either side. After breaking camp, you'll continue downstream to a spring-side camp for the night.

Landmarks Slot Canyon - Day 3
Canyon Deepens
After a big breakfast, you're hiking downstream through increasingly deep canyon sections with massive overhangs and refreshing springs. The colors keep changing as you move through the landscape. You'll see signs of historic development along the river, and there's an option to hike up a side canyon to a remote arch if you want the extra effort. You'll camp near a spring.

Landmarks Remote Arch - Day 4
High Water Route
The canyon widens as you enter the softer Chinle Formation. You'll leave the creekbed and take the high water route for 8 to 10 miles of rugged terrain that fills most of the day. Along the way, you'll spot petroglyphs and pass by a historic ranch before setting up camp.

Return to St. George
You get a more relaxing morning before finishing your journey with 3 to 5 miles of hiking. You'll check out historical sites including a 19th century ranch. From there, you'll meet your shuttle driver and head back to St. George for a scenic 3-hour drive.
