- DNDora E· May 9th, 2025Overall, it was a great experience—I truly enjoyed it. While the accommodations and restaurant options could use some improvement, the tour guides were exceptional. As a solo traveler, I felt very well taken care of throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you Dora for taking the time to share your experience with us. - LLinden· April 2nd, 2017NEVER BOOK WITH INTREPID IT IS A SCAM!!!! I would give it 0 stars if I could. Did the rio carnival package, the staff outnumbered the clients yet they still could not organise for the life of them. The staff were rude, had no idea what they were doing, actually got us lost in Rio (really not a safe thing to do), unorganised and seemed to be on holiday themselves instead of working. The itinerary lied and said you had food and drink included in the gay ball...none of which was included in the ticket they purchased. Every other tour was ridiculously marked up through the teeth, I'd pay to not use this company ever again. They somehow managed to leave us behind at sugar loaf mountain (do they not do head counts?) and we had to pay for a taxi back to the accommodation. I've done many tours with contiki and top deck where it was worth that extra money rather than doing it yourself I just wish I realised sooner not every tour company is equal.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Linden, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. Traveler•Written November 2024Is it possible to take a better sector instead of Sambodrome (Seating in Sector 11)? I think between sector 6 and sector 9 is better. Is there a Complimentary Arrival Transfer included?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written November 2024
There are no airport transfers included. As for Sambodrome tickets, we prefer the entire group to stay together in sector 11. If you want to upgrade, you would need to speak with the tour leader while in destination to check availability.

Asked on May 22nd, 2024Rio Carnival Experience, can you tell me about joining up this tour with other tours covering places I want to go? Add Iguassu Falls, Buenos Aires, Machu Picchu, can you assist?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2024
Adding Iguassu Falls, Buenos Aires, Machu Picchu will be difficult. These locations are very distant from each other and would be a 2 week tour in themselves. Adding Iguassu Falls, Buenos Aires would be a bit easier.

Asked on April 11th, 2022could i please have as much detail about the samba drone performance i will be seeing including how good the school is? finally what section of seating will we be in?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written April 2022
On the afternoon of day 5 you'll have the opportunity to don a costume and take part in the parade – dancing your way down the Sambadrome runway – a once in a lifetime experience! Each Samba School has around 4000 dancers, split into twenty-five 'alas' or wings, each wing telling part of the overall story or theme of the school. You'll get to join one of these 'alas' and spend 30-40 minutes celebrating within the Sambadrome. Don't worry, you don't need to be able to samba, just use your utmost enthusiasm to jump, bounce and dance around. Soak up the energy and make the most of every moment as you play a part in the biggest stage in the world. Afterward, you're welcome to head back to the hotel with the leader, who will be able to recommend places to go for a final cold caipirinha or group dinner. The seating will be in Sector 11.
