Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Lima

    You'll meet your driver at Jorge Chávez International Airport who'll walk you through customs and baggage claim. From there, it's a private van ride to your hotel in Miraflores for check-in. The afternoon and early evening are open for you to settle in or walk around the neighborhood. At 6 pm, your guide stops by to go over what's coming up during your 14-day tour.

  2. Day 2

    Lima City Tour

    Start with your guide exploring central Lima's colonial section, hitting the Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace at Plaza Mayor. Next you'll check out the San Francisco Monastery to see the detailed tile work and historic library. On the return route, there's a stop at the Huaca Pucllana pyramid. By afternoon you have time to yourself to wander around sites near your hotel.

  3. Day 3

    Lima to Arequipa

    After breakfast you fly to Arequipa, nicknamed the White City because of its white volcanic stone buildings. Once you arrive, your transfer takes you to the hotel where coca tea and muña tea help with altitude adjustment. You'll have the rest of the day and evening free to check out the market, visit scenic overlooks, or sign up for an optional cooking class if you're interested.

  4. Day 4

    Arequipa to Colca Canyon

    Following breakfast, you head out to Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons around. The route passes through colorful villages and Andean peaks where you'll see llamas and alpacas grazing near Chachani. You'll stop at Pampa Cañahuas national reserve for photos before reaching Chivay and checking into your hotel with canyon views. There's an optional visit to La Calera Hot Springs later if you want.

    Colca Canyon to Puno

    Wake early for breakfast, then head to Condor Overlook to watch condors flying at sunrise. You'll see pre-Incan tombs nearby, then pass through towns like Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque. Patapampa sits at 4900 meters with mountain views and stone-pile traditions. Lunch happens en route before you travel to Puno with stops to see migratory birds and flamingos along the way.

    Lake Titicaca

    You'll spend the day on Lake Titicaca visiting the Floating Islands of the Uros and Taquile Island. Learn how the Uros people build their reed islands and boats from tortora reeds. Lunch comes on the Floating Islands, then you travel to Taquile known for handmade weavings and ceramics. You'll visit local homes and meet families to get a real sense of rural Peruvian life before heading back to Puno.

    Puno to Cusco

    After breakfast, you travel by bus across the Altiplano toward Cusco's fertile valleys. Stop in Pucara to see the museum with pre-Incan sculptures and ceramics, including the famous little bull. You'll reach La Raya Pass at 4335 meters for photos of Chimboya peak. Lunch is in Sicuani, then there's a visit to the Temple of Wiracocha at Raqchi and the Sistine Chapel of the Americas at Andahuaylillas before arriving in Cusco.

    Cusco Free Day

    You have the day to explore Cusco at your own pace. Check out the Cathedral with over 400 paintings from the Cusco School, see Spanish colonial buildings, and look through local galleries selling handmade textiles and crafts. Optional activities include river rafting on the Vilcanota River or other adventure sports if you're interested.

    Moray, Salineras & Ollantaytambo

    Leaving Cusco at 3400 meters, you head to Moray, an agricultural center with Incan circular terraces where temperature shifts with altitude. You'll meet local farmers and shepherds. Then it's on to the traditional town of Maras with its noble house coats-of-arms, followed by the Salineras salt mines with over 5000 small wells. After lunch in Urubamba, you catch the train to Aguas Calientes.

    Get an early breakfast, then take a 25-minute bus ride uphill to Machu Picchu. Your guide leads a 3-hour tour through the House of the Guardian, Temple of the Sun, Temple of the High Priest, Sacred Plaza, and Great Carved Rock. You'll have time for your own photos and videos. After lunch back in Aguas Calientes, you take the train to Ollantaytambo and drive to Cusco.

Visit the Coricancha Temple of the Sun and climb up to Sacsayhuaman Fortress to see the massive stone blocks and military design. Next you'll check out the mysterious Incan site of Qenco, then visit the Baths of the Incas at Tambo Machay. Finish up shopping for alpaca sweaters, ceramics, and silver jewelry from local sellers.

    After breakfast, you transfer to Cusco airport for your flight back to Lima with views of the Andes on the way. Once you land, your transfer takes you to your hotel in Miraflores. The rest of the afternoon is yours to rest or explore the neighborhood. Dinner later is optional.
