  We had a marvelous experience in western coastal Italy. 70-year-old grandparents traveling with 15-year- old grandchildren were able to relax about details because we were met on time in the promised locations and transported safely to beautiful places. Our accommodations were lovely!

  The guides who met us at the train station were extremely helpful. The drivers were very good as well. The two hotels were very good. The tour of Pompeii was relatively short. We should have been transported to Capri on the ferry boat. Instead we were taken in a boat that was about 8 meters long which bounced in the water. This trip took us more than 1.5 hours. This type of boat should never been used to transport 6 people. The operator never showed up at the pier and we bought our tickets to return by ferry.

  Splendid Tour: What a mess for the amount of money we spent stay away from both companies. Tour Radar farms out Destination Italia as our tour group who then farms out local people in the area to give you a tour. You do not know what you are getting. The hotels are 2 stars, most of these people who they hire except for the drivers and for a man named Marco who did our Capri tour, are students. Your Itinerary when given to you when you are met by an assistant is written on a sticky's attached to your train ticket but never tells you who the next person is you are going to meet? I traveled with a friend and there was one other person on this tour with us who we did not know. We started out in Rome train station meet at the Pharmacy that person kept calling someone for our porter to pick up our bags to put on the train. He was calling our driver in Naples???? The Porter was in Naples not in Rome??? We finally get to Naples, and we were then met with a man named Simon and the Porter we did not know who Simon was were never given any names. He is our tour person for Pompeii, but he did not tell us that until we got to our car. as we were going through the train station my co travelers asked to go to the restroom he and the porter and driver were upset because the restroom was on a different level who denies someone of that? We finally get to Pompeii and the driver and Simon were negotiating the amount of time we are going to be at Pompeii. Simon never gave us a head set paperwork he stated he was sick and said he was called the morning of our tour to give us this tour. it was a waste of time and money we followed another tour person who was very informational and explained the ruins of Pompeii because our person didn't talk, he was sick. Who comes to work sick? Our driver was nice this was his first tour with Destination Italia, and he said they are a mess i agree. We get to our hotel they put me and my co traveler in a 3-star hotel Vesuvius Sorrento. old war world II hotel with view of other people's balconies in the back of the hotel, the food was horrible we never ate there again waste of money. the other person on our tours was in a 5-star hotel Minerva with great food and a view we all paid the same rate and were on the same tour for 5 days. We had a driver named Anthony the first day he was wonderful he took us around Sorrento otherwise you are on your own so i am glad i met him and will stay in contact with him the future. We had a tour person named Marco for Capri he was good. however, we were grouped with about 30 other people touring Capri not our private tour. Then we returned to Sorrento and on our own again to try to find something to do or to eat because the food at the hotel was horrible. Our hotel in Amalfi was also World War II old and run down oh by the way they told us they were closing for the season in 10 days, so they were limited on certain items. We then drove to Positano for a couple of hours and then to Amalfi which we stayed for 2 days. Our driver was also named Anthony he was great, but we are on our own no one to tour with for 2 days on day 5 He picked us up on our last day and drove us to Naples he was a wonderful man we missed our train back to Rome because of a major car accident, and he worked it out with the incompetent Destination Italia to get us new tickets otherwise we would have had to pay out of pocket. I would never use either one of these company's

  This tour was just perfect for me! As a solo traveler, it had just the right amount of organized activities and time to explore on my own. The guides/activities started on time, the hotels were comfortable and clean with spectacular views and the food included at the hotels was delicious especially the breakfast buffets. We missed the train from Naples to Rome due to a traffic accident and they quickly booked us on the next train in a private coach! The tickets in our emails. Thanks for the fabulous memories! Ciao!

  Highly recommend this tour. From the start of the tour to the very end, we were taken care of with a point of contact person. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The hotels, while dated in decor, were clean and in convenient locations. Having time to ourselves in Amalfi was fine, although with almost two days there, one more excursion would have been welcomed. Altogether we were pleased with the planning and execution of this tour and we had a wonderful time visiting beautiful places.

  I enjoyed the tour, it was somewhat dampened (no pun intended) by the rain we experienced. The guides were very knowledgeable and the transport for the most part was top notch and efficient.

  Overall our experience on the Splendid Amalfi tour was good and fairly consistent with how it was advertised, with the exception that it was somewhat unclear as to whether the tickets for the included guided tour of the Pompeii Archeological site were included. The modes of transportation and drives were very good. The hotel facilities and included meals were very good. The main area in need of improvement are the communications from Destination Italia, the local tour operator. For example porter service was to be provided at the Rome Termini Station when boarding the train to Naples, but the local representative was either unaware of it or he forgot to connect anyone in our tour group with the service. As a result everyone, including several women had to drag and load their luggage onto the train. Additionally, on our last day, the communication was not clear as to the time and where the transportation service would pick us up for transport from Amalfi to Naples. Specifically, we were provided a piece of paper stating "15/9 Napoli: 4:00PM" but it was confusing as to whether 4:00PM was the time we were to be pick up in Amalfi (with no specifics on where we were to be picked up) or if that was the time we were to meet the local representative in Naples.
