Golan Heights
You'll start by driving through the Plain of Armageddon and passing Megiddo on your way toward Galilee. After crossing the Jordan River, the route takes you up into the Golan Heights where you'll spend the day exploring several sites. First, you'll soak in the warm waters at Hamat Gader hot springs, then head to Shalom Observatory to take in views over the Sea of Galilee from above. Later you'll walk through the excavated Talmudic village at Katzrin to see how people lived centuries ago. The Golan Antiquities Museum gives more context about the region's history, and you'll finish by visiting Mount Bental where former Syrian bunkers from the Six Day War sit on the ridge. Starting early, you'll drive north along the coastal road through the Plain of Armageddon and Megiddo, making a brief stop at Mt. Precipice before heading to Nazareth. There you'll tour the Church of Annunciation and Church of St. Joseph to see the sites tied to Jesus's early life. From there, the route continues through Cana and along the Sea of Galilee shoreline, where you'll catch views of Mt. of Beatitudes from the road. You'll then stop at Capernaum to explore the ancient ruins and visit the Church of the Multiplication. After passing through Tiberias, you'll head to Yardenit for the baptismal site along the Jordan River. The drive wraps up by heading back through Mt. Tabor to complete the circuit. Northern Coast and Acre
This coastal journey starts at Caesarea, the ancient Roman port where you'll walk around the archaeological remains. From there, you'll head north to Haifa to see the Baha'i Gardens cascading down the hillside, which is quite a sight to photograph and explore. Continuing north to Israel's tip, Rosh HaNikra offers white sea caves that you can walk through right at the water's edge. On the return trip south, you'll stop at the Crusader city of Acre where you'll tour structures from multiple periods: the 12th century Crusader buildings, Ottoman-era architecture, and structures from the British Mandate Period. This gives you a real sense of how the city changed hands throughout history. The whole route covers roughly 60 miles of coastline.
