Arrival
You'll arrive at your beachfront hotel with a private balcony and sea views. The town centre is only a 5-minute walk away, so there are plenty of restaurant options for dinner this evening if you want to head out and grab something.

Mont-Ras to Castell d'Emporda
After a 20-minute transfer to Mont-Ras, you can pick your route through the Gavarnes hills. The walk takes you past three dolmens with views across to Begur and the Illes Medes, then through the medieval villages of Fonteta and Vulpellac. By the end of the day you'll arrive at Hotel Castell d'Emporda with views across the plain.

Castell d'Emporda Villages Loop
You have options here. Spend the day by the pool if you prefer, or take a circular walk linking medieval villages like Corca and Monells (known for its nice square), then head to La Bisbal, a busy market town famous for antiques and pottery. If you go to La Bisbal, check out Carrer de Call in the old quarter, a former Jewish ghetto with intricate arches still intact. Alternatively, the local bus can take you to Girona or Figueres if you want a longer day out.

Castell d'Emporda to Begur via Peratallada and Pals
You'll walk gently across the Emporda plain, starting with Peratallada, possibly Spain's best preserved medieval village with beautiful restored arches and shaded squares. From there, head through fields of sunflowers to peach-coloured Pals, which has a Romanesque church and great views. The route finishes through pine forest to your family-run hotel in historic Begur.

Begur
Start by exploring fashionable hilltop Begur with its 11th-century castle, impressive villas and narrow streets. A 10-minute local bus or taxi (available mid-June to mid-September) takes you to the coast where you'll find four beautiful sandy coves: Sa Riera, Aiguafreda, Sa Tuna, and Aiguablava. If you prefer something more challenging, a circular coastal walk links all these spots together.

Begur to Calella de Palafrugell via Coastal Path
Walk through shaded forest paths to Tamariu, a lively seaside town with a fantastic beach. Then pick up the coastal path, passing rocky headlands and chic Spanish resorts on the way to Llafranc where the San Sebastian lighthouse offers spectacular views. Stop for lunch at a beachfront bar, then head back to Calella. If you have time and energy, continue along the coastal path to the botanical gardens at Cap Roig before finishing with a swim or beach time.
