What people love about touring Kruger National Park solo
- Kruger & Coast (5 destinations)
I did the 9 day Kruger and Coast tour. It was absolutely amazing. I didn’t expect to eat such fantastic and varied vegetarian dishes, but our guide Chad was a fantastic chef. I felt safe and reassured being with a local guide who knew the culture and people where we visited. The homestay and the game drives were definite highlights. It’s worth noting that the days are very long- early mornings most days and long drives to get to the next location. Absolutely everyone expects tips along the way so be sure to bring a lot of extra money, this cost much more than I had anticipated. Overall it was an incredible experience and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Our driver, Vincent was also wonderful !
- Kruger, Falls & Zimbabwe: Mineral Pools & National Parks
The most wonderful thing in this tour is people! The best CEO, George and Joseph, and all the tour members from all over the world. I really enjoyed my first Southern African trip because of them. Of course I am satisfied with visiting safari and seeing wild animals.
- 14-Day Victoria Falls, Kruger, Cape Town & Winelands
Wow! My family (2 adults, 16 and 18 year olds) had an amazing time in January 2025 on the 14-Day Victoria Falls, Kruger, Cape Town & Winelands tour. It was an extremely well-curated and well-paced tour with an excellent blend of adventure, sight-seeing, luxury, shopping, relaxation and free time to explore local areas. We particularly enjoyed the small group format meaning that most activities were private (just my family) or with another couple/family. We were well-looked after at each leg of the tour with a contact person to greet us at each transfer location, activity and hotel. Bronah from Little Roz Tours was available throughout the entire tour on Whatsapp to sort out any issues that arose and answer any questions which was very reassuring. The hotels/lodges were all of a very high standard (4 to 5 star), with excellent service, food and facilities (we enjoyed spa/massages in almost all locations). Bronah/Little Roz Tours also adjusted the itinerary based on the availability of certain game lodges to provide the best available lodge and optimize the use of time allowing an extra night Kruger instead of a transitional stay night. Included tours and safaris were undertaken by very professional and experienced local operators. Bronah/Little Roz Tours were also able to organize discretionary tours at short notice through their network of trusted providers (e.g. Victoria Falls helicopter flight, Devil’s Pool daytrip) which made for a seamless experience. Thank you Bronah/Little Roz Tours for organizing a wonderful tour of Africa for my family – we had an amazing trip with many great memories. We hope to do another tour in the not-too-distant future! Kind regards Oliver, Samantha, Orlando and Skylar
What our customers ask about Kruger National Park Tours for Solo Travelers
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to visit Kruger National Park?
The dry winter season from May to September provides the best conditions for solo travel to Kruger. Animals gather near water sources making wildlife viewing easier and the malaria risk drops significantly during these months. Properties like Simbavati George Camp and Kruger Adventure Lodge create natural opportunities to meet other travelers through shared dinners and evening programs. The weather stays pleasant with daytime temperatures around 25°C/77°F which makes game drives at locations like Blyde River Canyon comfortable.
How social are the guided group tours in Kruger National Park for solo travelers?
Group tours naturally create connections between travelers through shared experiences. At lodges like Tremisana Game Lodge travelers come together for Bush BBQs at the Marula Tree Boma and afternoon game drives. The atmosphere encourages conversation and friendship. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The group was small only 11 participants from all ages and stages of life... everyone got on so well and were so close after a few days."
What type of accommodations can solo travelers expect in Kruger?
Places to stay range from standard lodge rooms to unique sleeping arrangements. Tremisana Game Lodge provides air-conditioned chalets with private bathrooms while Marc's Treehouse Lodge offers elevated wooden houses. Each option balances comfort with the safari experience. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Staying in the treehouse at Marc's was a highlight - it was comfortable while still feeling adventurous and the communal areas were great for meeting other travelers."
How much wildlife interaction can I expect on a guided Kruger tour?
Most tours schedule 2-3 daily game drives in areas known for wildlife like Orpen gate. The vehicles get close enough for good viewing while maintaining safe distances. One TourRadar traveler reported: "Our expert guide helped us spot over 30 different species including lions elephants and even a leopard during our sunset drive. The shared excitement of these sightings really brought our group together."
Do I have to pay a single supplement for Kruger National Park tours as a solo traveler?
Single room fees typically cost between USD 200-400. Some companies like Viva Safaris offer roommate matching at places like Tremisana Game Lodge to help travelers avoid extra charges. A TourRadar guest commented: "I chose to share a room at the lodge and ended up making a great friend while saving on costs."
