What people love about touring Canada solo
- Canadian Rockies: National Parks Westbound
Its a great tour! You see the most beautiful places and everything is so well organised. The camping part is easy to do, even for people like me who never go camping. Enjoyed every second of it!!
- Majestic Rockies
Our tour director, Doug, was excellent. As well as being informative, professional, and making sure everyone’s concerns and questions were addressed, he brought fun, fun, fun into the mix. The accommodations were great in each city and very clean. The only exception was Sun Peaks (many seniors were on this trip and the stairs to the loft were quite steep). Overall, I had an incredible time and would recommend this tour.
- 4-Day Canadian Rockies Summer Explorer Tour
Chris was a champion for the tour. He went above and beyond to make the tour enjoyable and inclusive for all. Even when the bus broke down Chris jumped to attention controlling and commanding the situation to make sure the tour was continued and back on schedule quickly. He really deserves more credit than is possibly given.
What our customers ask about Canada Tours for Solo Travelers
Do I need to pay a single supplement as a solo traveler?
Tour companies typically give you two options: pay a single supplement for a private room or share with another solo traveler of the same gender. The Rockies Premium Tour charges single supplements between $80-100 USD nightly for properties like the Mount Royal in Banff or Sutton Place in Revelstoke. According to a TourRadar reviewer: "I paid the single supplement but it was worth every penny for the privacy and comfort."
Which Canadian destinations are most solo-friendly?
You'll find the most welcoming atmosphere for solo travelers in Banff and Jasper. These towns offer central hotels like the Mount Royal and Whistlers Inn near restaurants shops and group activities. Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are also popular spots for guided excursions. One TourRadar guest noted: "Banff was perfect for meeting other travelers with lots of group activities and central accommodation."
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to tour Canada?
June through September brings the most reliable weather and highest number of tour departures including Bay of Fundy excursions. The Rockies offer prime hiking conditions in July-August while Maritime provinces see fewer crowds in September. A past guest shared: "We were lucky with fine weather and good wildlife sightings during our summer Rockies tour."
Are meals generally shared as a group?
Tours typically include daily breakfast and 1-2 group dinners while leaving other meals flexible. Places like the Sutton Place Hotel in Revelstoke host welcome dinners to help guests connect. Reviews often mention the social aspect: "The included dinners were wonderful for getting to know my fellow travelers."
How do shared room arrangements work for solo travelers?
Companies like Discover Canada Tours pair solo travelers of the same gender in twin rooms at properties such as the Banff Aspen Lodge and Whistlers Inn. Private rooms are available for an extra fee. One reviewer shared their experience: "The shared room worked well - I was matched with another solo traveler and we became good friends."
