What people love about Central Greece Tours
- Highlights of Greece Tour - 8 Days
Overall it was a very good tour. There were 3 disappointments though. 1. On the Delphi day par of the itinerary was supposed to be a visit to the Delphi museum, me and a few others who were continuing on to Meteora were shunted from our original group (who were due to go to the museum) to a new group who had already been to the museum, therefore we did not get to go to the museum which was part of the itinerary. 2. There was no organised tour in Santorini, so I had to organise something for myself. 3. The arrival time on the 1st day at Santorini and the leaving time at day 3 on Santorini meant that it was too late or early to organise any day trip with any travel agencies in Santorini.
- Best of Greece Tour
I had a great trip, everything was taken care of for me. The travel adviser was great and made sure to make himself available to me if I had any questions!
- Delphi and Meteora Three Days Tour from Athens
Offer menu choices not disgusting buffets. Would expect better for supposedly first class hotels. We noticed on part of the tour lunch was at a local eatery not included on our 3 day tour to Delphi. To much time was allowed especially when we were told transport would arrive and leave Delphi hotel at 1:30 only to stop again 5 minutes down the road for others for lunch for over an hour and Half. Poor communications from otherwise excellent guide on both sections of the tour. Return trip to Athens is a long way from Meteora and frantic drop off to over 8 different hotels was inefficient for the driver. On day 1 we were the first collected and day 3 the last dropped. The driver did an excellent job,but perhaps the logistics could be better arranged
What our customers ask about Central Greece Tours & Trips
What are the must-see historical sites on a Central Greece tour?
A thorough exploration of Central Greece should include the UNESCO World Heritage site of Delphi Sanctuary featuring the Temple of Apollo and ancient theater. The Meteora monasteries in Kalambaka stand dramatically on towering rock formations while the battlefield of Thermopylae tells the story of the 300 Spartans' famous last stand. The Delphi Archaeological Museum displays significant artifacts including the bronze Charioteer statue. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The guided tour of Delphi was incredible - our guide brought the ancient Oracle site to life with fascinating stories and historical context."
When is the best time to visit Central Greece for a general sightseeing tour?
The peak season for Central Greece runs from April through October with pleasant temperatures suited for outdoor exploration. Spring months of April and May showcase Meteora's landscape dotted with wildflowers. September and October provide comfortable temperatures around 20°C at Delphi with fewer crowds. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We went in September and the weather was perfect for exploring the ancient sites and monasteries not too hot or crowded."
What types of accommodation can I expect on a Central Greece tour?
Most tours provide lodging in 3-4 star properties throughout the region. Popular options include the Delphi Palace Hotel and Kalambaka's Divani Meteora Hotel which offers views of the famous monasteries. Properties often blend Greek architectural elements with contemporary comforts. A TourRadar reviewer noted: "The hotels were perfect because of the super enthusiastic staff at each of these places especially the Amalia Hotel in Kalambaka with its amazing views of Meteora."
How much time should I spend in Central Greece to see the main highlights?
A well-planned 3-4 day itinerary allows visitors to experience Central Greece's key attractions. This timeline provides a full day at Delphi's archaeological complex and museum another exploring Meteora's monasteries plus time to visit Thermopylae and traditional villages like Arachova. A TourRadar traveler commented: "Three days was perfect to see both Delphi and Meteora without feeling rushed with enough time to really appreciate each site."
What's the typical group size for general tours in Central Greece?
Standard tours accommodate between 20-45 participants. Premium services typically limit groups to 25 people while budget-friendly options may include up to 45 travelers. Companies like Private Tours Greece specialize in smaller group experiences. A TourRadar reviewer noted: "Our group of 35 was perfect - large enough to be social but small enough that our guide could give everyone personal attention."
Are the monasteries of Meteora accessible for all fitness levels?
The monastery visits require varying levels of physical effort with multiple stairs and inclined paths. Tours typically visit 2-3 monasteries selecting more accessible options such as Great Meteoron or Varlaam Monastery. Sturdy walking shoes are necessary. A TourRadar traveler advised: "The monastery visits require moderate fitness - there are lots of steps but the pace is manageable and the views are worth every step."
