What people love about Tanzania and Uganda Tours in April
- Gorillas and Game Parks
It's the connections with people, animals and the amazing African landscapes that makes this trip incredible! This trip includes some amazing experiences from Gorillas, chimp walks, having hippos outside your tent, camping in national parks, masai village visits, to travel in the big yellow truck. Made all the better by the people you get to share them with. We had the loveliest drive Angelo who kept us all safe and happy with his beautiful, happy and positive nature. Our tour guide Derek was exceptional. His Knowledge and connection to Africa, it's animals and people made for interesting and insightful commentary. He did an excellent job setting, meeting and exceeding our expectations throughout the trip. Most importantly Derek took the time to connect with everyone in the group creating lasting friendships! Thanks Derek, Angelo and Absolute Africa!
What our customers ask about Tanzania and Uganda Tours in April 2026
What special events or cultural experiences are available in April?
April opens doors to enriching cultural encounters throughout East Africa. Visitors can spend time with Maasai communities in Tanzania's Tepesua Village located in the Loita Hills or meet the Hadzabe people near Lake Eyasi. In Uganda the Ride4 a Woman community project welcomes guests with local craft workshops and traditional dance performances during this quieter season.
What is the weather like in Tanzania and Uganda during April?
April falls within the wet season in both countries. Uganda sees regular rainfall particularly around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Queen Elizabeth National Park. Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro regions experience heavier precipitation with temperatures averaging 25°C (77°F). As one TourRadar traveler noted: "Despite some rain in April we had incredible wildlife viewing opportunities in the Serengeti and the lush green landscapes made for amazing photography."
What specific activities are recommended in Tanzania and Uganda during April?
The green season provides excellent opportunities for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest and wildlife drives across the Serengeti. Boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel offer close encounters with river wildlife while Lake Mburo National Park provides guided walks and prime bird watching. One TourRadar traveler shared: "The afternoon boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park was incredible for spotting hippos and water birds in the lush April environment."
What is the price difference for traveling in April versus peak season?
Travelers can expect savings of 20-30% compared to peak season rates during April. Properties like Kontiki Africa in the Serengeti reduce their rates and there's less competition for gorilla permits in Bwindi. Most comprehensive tours during this period cost between 800-1000 USD per day including lodging and activities.
Are roads and accessibility affected during April?
The April rains can make some routes more challenging particularly in Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park and Tanzania's Serengeti. Tour companies use specialized 4x4 vehicles to navigate these conditions. While the descent into Ngorongoro Crater might take extra time experienced guides ensure continued access to key sites.
What are the best accommodation options for April travel?
Accommodation choices range from luxury stays at Fort Murchison Lodge in Uganda to well-equipped permanent tented camps in the Serengeti. Properties like the Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge and Kontiki Africa provide comfortable shelter during rainy periods while keeping guests close to prime wildlife areas.
