What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Spain
- Discovery of Spain - 10 days
The quality fo the hotels was above average and the driver was excellent. The tour guide was changed 3 times .ROsa was our first one and was satisfactory, the second one did the tour of the city of Madrid was excellent her knowledge was amazing and interesting. The third one was Alejandra who was really nice and tried really hard to please and still control the group. What was not satisfactory was ,the first night they were given a bus that did not work, the sound system did not work then the bus quit. that is poor quality directly due to the company not the employees . Therefore we missed seeing some of what we should have seen. The bus for the rest of the tour was good and comfortable and not overfilled. These are the things I feel are missing in your tour company. I have taken many tours and they usually operate like this. 1)At the beginning of the tour you are provided with a detailed list of time tables of all activiites and places and what you will see each day and where you will stay each night . In your company we are given only a time table each night of when we are to get up , have breakfast and if we have ot take luggage with us and what time we are leaving. Verbally when we begin the day the tour quide informs us of where we are going and some broad parameters of time tables. thoughout the day we are updated on timelines etc . 2) In really good tours-You are also given a rotationg seating arrangement for each day so everyone has an opportunity to be seated in the best seats. it is not a scramble of who can get there first which is how your company chooses to operate. It is not fair to the less mobile people . 3)also the better tours - take the luggage from the hotel to the bus for the clients. In your companies case you ask your clients to transport their own luggage which is still acceptable. But what is not is that you ask your clients to stand with their luggage till the bus driver gets to it to load it. that means that individual travellers are then last to enter the bus and get last pick of the seats as the couples are smart enough to quickly figure out to send one person in ot grab the best seats . So to be fair you should either have a seating plan or not require people to stand with their luggage until the bus driver has time to load their luggage. I heard some of the complaints from other clients and they may not tell you but they will tell their friends. Another suggestion I will make is that you add something other than just cathedrals and city tours to your intinerary . the Flamenco show was excellent and so was the artisan shops . but you need more variety to your tour to make it better . after a while it is just another cathedral and just another government building no matter how detailed they are . You could add things to make it a lot more intersting , like sheep farms, factories ,the andalusina horse show at the royal stable, information on the economy, goernment, education , your fishing industry and many other subjects that would make this a lot more interesting. For those reason I felt it was only satisfactory. If you want to see what the best tour I have ever taken looks for variety , take a look at CIE in Ireland of their 21 day tour of all of Ireland. It is by far the best tour I have ever been on and has become my measure for all other tours .

Great trip. Hotels and food fabulous. Guides were awesome.
- Andalucia & Toledo, 6 days
Javier did a v. good job with our tour and handled the group with kindness, patience, thorough explanations in both English and Spanish. The guide we had in Alhambra had little interest in translating for the English speakers and didn't even look at us during her 'talks.' She was a negative, for sure. The other 'local specialists' did a good job. All the places we visited were interesting and the trip was a good one. My travel companion was quite sick and Javier was most helpful with his care as well. Many thanks.
What our customers ask about Spain Guided Tours & Trips
How much of Spain can I expect to see on a typical guided tour?
A standard 7-9 day guided tour of Spain covers the country's key destinations including Madrid Barcelona Andalusia and the Mediterranean coast. Travelers explore major landmarks such as Granada's Alhambra Cordoba's Mosque and Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences. One TourRadar traveler shared: "We covered an incredible amount - from Toledo's medieval streets to Seville's Plaza de España - while staying at quality hotels like the Catalonia Santa Justa." The itineraries blend visits to large cities with stops in smaller towns like Ronda and Zaragoza giving visitors a broad view of Spanish culture.
What is the best time of year to take a fully guided tour in Spain?
The most favorable months for Spain tours fall in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-October) when weather conditions are mild and tourist numbers are manageable. Summer brings heavy crowds and high temperatures particularly in southern cities like Seville and Cordoba where thermometers often read above 95°F (35°C). One TourRadar traveler noted: "We went in April and had perfect weather for exploring Madrid's Plaza Mayor and Barcelona's outdoor attractions." Winter tours offer fewer crowds but may encounter rain though hotels like the Abades Nevada Palace in Granada accommodate year-round comfort.
What type of accommodations can I expect on a fully guided Spain tour?
Most Spain tours provide 4-star hotels in prime city locations near key attractions. Examples include Madrid's Emperador Hotel with its rooftop views and the modern Catalonia Barcelona 505. A TourRadar traveler commented: "The hotels exceeded expectations - especially the Silken Al-Andalus Palace in Seville with its beautiful gardens and pool." Standard amenities include private bathrooms WiFi access and daily breakfast buffets featuring Spanish and international dishes.
How much free time is typically available on guided tours in Spain?
Tours typically allocate 3-4 hours of independent exploration daily usually in the evenings. In Madrid this might mean afternoon visits to Retiro Park or shopping on Gran Via after morning guided activities. A TourRadar traveler noted: "I appreciated having guided tours in the mornings but then free time to explore places like Barcelona's Las Ramblas or try local restaurants in Toledo at my own pace." Some itineraries including those at Exe Sevilla Macarena offer full free days in select cities.
How does the dining experience work on fully guided tours in Spain?
Tours include daily hotel breakfast buffets at properties like NH Valencia Las Artes along with several group dinners featuring local cuisine. In Granada visitors might enjoy traditional Andalusian fare before an Alhambra visit. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "Our guide took us to authentic local restaurants where we tried amazing paella in Valencia and tapas in Madrid's La Latina neighborhood." While not every meal is included guides suggest reliable local dining options during free periods.
What is the typical pace and physical requirements for these tours?
These tours involve moderate activity with 4-6 hours of daily walking through cities and historic sites. Visits to places like Toledo's historic center and Barcelona's Gothic Quarter include walking on hills and cobblestone streets. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The pace was manageable with breaks built in though some days were quite full with walking tours of the Alhambra and Cordoba's Jewish Quarter." Tour operators like VPT Tours schedule regular rest stops and downtime for recovery.
