What people love about Europe Tours from Edinburgh
- 5-Day Orkney & Scotland's Northern Coast Small-Group Tour from Edinburgh
Great trip great country great guide
- Hebrides, Skye & The Far West
The 8-day tour was very good. I had the pleasure of being guided by Neil and Fergie, who were both brilliant gentlemen with great stories and were very knowledgeable. Both busses were in excellent condition. I did have some complaints about some of the accommodation, and I was under the impression there was a full scottish breakfast every morning, which it turns out was not the case. I brought both these concerns up with Highland Experience face-to-face and my feedback was taken on board in a professional and appreciative manner. I would highly rate Highland Experience!
- Isle of Skye & The Outer Hebrides
Poor Carrie had to start with a broken bus. YOU and she managed to get us back on time by the next day, only with hard driving. She was given a large bus and had to drive the narrow roads yet she managed to give us great scenery and a wonderful trip until she get to A9. The Glen Cove area was postponed until the last day but she did not flinch and got us there … Without loss of time. Carrie tells great stories. She knows the facts and is an excellent driver. She has a lot to manage includi9ng where folk sleep. None of the hotels you chose are very good … All need to supply wash clothes … (als0o called face clothes). The food is mundainecompared to the other restaurants we chose on our own … save the Royal something in Stornoway. Ours was a bed and breakfast with a great breakfast but lousy showers and tiny bedrooms. Carrie did an excellent of giving us information about our places, getting us there on time and handling our luggage. Carrie is an excellent communicator. FYI" we like local food with fresh veggies and good drinks. We will play for the meal rather than have to pretend we like the mass service. However, making suggestions for where we should eat is vey helpful and Carrie did an excellent job regarding this. YOUmiss a lot of opportunities. Not Carrie's job. Put a net on the back of your coach seats. In it put a map so tht we can look up the town were we stay. Pu meal suggetions and get revenue for listing the good ones. List where and how to get laundry done. One very good spot had the front desk in business to do laundry. It was in Protree and had decent rooms. Bad food. You arranged for us to eat in a group. Actually you required your guides to eat there. We all thought it was a good idea. However, I went to the pub suggested by Carrie as she drove by. Eating in the town of Portree was a better idea and we all skipped the hotel on the second night … excelpt yho poor guides. The Tuesday night includes a marching Scotish band in town. There is no reason to ask us to eat together unless it is the best in the town. The hotel is the best one you set us up to use. However, the food stinks. Even breakfast. Our group preferred bars to restaurants. PUBS are very good in Scotland and the Islands. Why not take the time to arrange. I am pretty sure this is a revenue opportunity for YOU. When the guide takes us shopping (we all did) then the gui8d should get a piece of what we buy. Most companies do that and seasoned travelers are used to that commission. You should provide tipping guidelines. Not sure why you do not. There are ads on most of the other buses. YO do not partake. We had a very good group. Carrie is excellent at taking picutres and using almost all cameras. A wonderful talent that I suspect she learned from trial and error and hwer very good instincts. Lucky we had such a bvery good guide. We went on seven trips while in Scotland, mostly arranged by Avatar. Carrie is by far the best guide. She knows the history, tells interesting stories and has a gift for drama. She can drive, speak and emote simultaneously. We sat behind her most of the rip and saw her excellent demeanor on the road where she gave the right away out of caution. We saw her parking ability and her excellent choices of where we should meet again and her ability to communicate everything including eating and bathrooms. NO one on the tripever griped about Carrie. And we had some good gripers. Carrie had tocommunicate with a couple that had "lost" one of their bags. It turned out they had forgotten to look, themselves. YOU retrieved it and got it to thm later. Good communication with Carrie to help them remain calm over losing their medicin, et. al. The plan was gret. I can easily suggest you to our friends. "We hope you continue to hire very good drivers. We had a chance with another one, Steve going to the Highlands. He is a good driver … much lsess of a story teller and did not engage the travelers … He only had ne day with us. CAitland was with us a little and she really adds wisdom and great leadership. ?We had her again at the Highland games on Sunday … again a strong leader with good wisdom and excellent repartee with customers. Keep Carrie .. you have a gem and she can only grow.
