Visit Asheville's River Arts District between 10am-2pm when studios are most active. Take the brewery tour in the afternoon but pace yourself with the stronger-than-usual craft beers. Start at the Country Music Hall of Fame before the mid-morning crowds arrive. Drive 3.5 hours to Memphis, arriving between 2-4pm to skip rush hour traffic. Beale Street is best after dark, with blues performances starting around 9pm. "B.B. King's Blues Club was packed by 8pm—get there early and try the ribs while waiting for the band."

The drive from Clarksdale to New Orleans takes 5 hours through bayou country. Arrive after 2pm for hotel check-in. On your final day, start with beignets at Cafe du Monde before 8am to avoid long lines. Then explore the Garden District on the St. Charles streetcar. "The streetcar was just $1.25 each way, but bring exact change and hold on tight—those wooden seats slide around corners!"
What people love about 2-week Southern USA tours
- Rhythms of the South
The trip was wonderful. The itinerary was excellent and there was a good balance between structured tours and free time. Our tour guide and driver were professional, personable and helpful.
- America's Musical Heritage with Extended Stay in New Orleans
Well organized tour with a good choice of landmarks. A real tour full of highlights for every music fan. The Tour Director Patrick entertainded us and always had everything under control.
- Southern Style
Southern Style - what a great holiday! We were a bit concerned that we were not going to like a "tour" as we had never done one before. However...we had the BEST holiday EVER! Nashville was fantastic, if just a bit too busy for us at the weekends. Memphis was as we expected - Graceland and Sun Studio being the best bits! The place that surprised us most was Alabama. We had no idea what to expect in Muscle Shoals - but when we got there - we just wanted to stay!! That place is AMAZING! The people are so friendly, even the Mayor came to speak to us at lunch. Session Musicians just "hang out" and tell stories of playing on this song or that - but more...they are interested in getting to know you!! Like I said - best holiday EVER, and can't wait to be back in the USA. Booked to go with Travelling Time in October on the Buddy Holly Tour - 66 & Buddy (Two ticks off my bucket list right there - Dallas & Route 66 - yay!!)
