This tour was above and beyond what I was expecting. I was worried initially when I booked it that it was a bit on the pricey side (but other tours were more expensive and it was also one of the only ones operating during winter). I was also warned that during winter the weather might be unpredictable etc but I am not phased by that. By I am SO glad that I booked this tour. Because it was winter there was literally no one there and I had a private tour for 3 out of 4 of the days. The guides I had were fantastic and friendly and informative. The places we visited were stunning. And because it was just me I had complete flexibility with the guide to go wherever I pleased. Everything was so well organised, all of transfers etc turned up at the exact time they told me and I had no problems. Don't be put off going during winter - it's not even that cold (especially for a Northern European) and the wind is minimal compared to Summer and the place is not full of tourists.

And one very rare weather related incident caused us to miss stargazing (rescheduled and eventually refunded, without asking). Excellent company, excellent trip- make sure to stay longer in Torres del Paine, as I could have staid longer . The Atacama was worth the whole trip alone!

Five days is really ideal to see the highlights here. The W Trek is super popular and takes you past all the good stuff like those famous granite towers the French Valley and Grey Glacier. It's about 45 miles total and most people take 4-5 days to finish it. If you're tight on time there's lots of day trips available from scenic drives to boat tours out to Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers and shorter hikes too.
