I was with Stanley and his crew six days on the Rongai route. As a woman alone on this trip it was an great experience to trust this competent, friendly and experienced team. Stanley and Remmy took care of me in every situation, checked health carefully and felt responsible for my well-being at any time. Great food, perfect organisation and always good mood. I recommend 100%

Myself and three friends were lucky enough to have Sebastian and Joey as our guide for the 8 day Lemosho route up Kilimanjaro. To be honest we were hard pressed to find any fault with Viva as a tour operator. They were fantastic in the months leading up to our trip and helping us ensure we had all the correct gear and patiently answered all of our stupid questions (thank you Miriam!). The quality of all the gear and equipment was great and everyone was very friendly throughout the experience. Knowing we would be living on the side of a mountain for 8 days we were unsure what the food would look like but were very pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food prepared by our chef was fantastic and we were spoilt on more than one occasion (eating chicken and chips at 4,600m felt a bit decadent at the time but we loved it!). The guides were very experienced and gave us a lot of confidence we would make it to the top. They were very thorough ensuring we ascended slowly and made us complete several acclimatisation walks in the afternoons to ensure the best chance of us making it to the top. As a group our only point of concern was that a couple of our porters were wearing shoes unfit for the conditions. Overall though we would highly recommend Viva Africa Tours and would certainly use them again to climb Kilimanjaro!

Leading up to the trip the company was a bit disorganized. Dates changed from booking to itinerary. I confirmed the dates via email, then when I showed up a day early, I was told we were leaving a day earlier than planned. Other people in group were surprised as well. Just lucky I arrived early or I would have missed the trek. Trek was great, but front office staff is not reliable.
