Itinerary
- Day 1
Ísafjörður to Hornvík Bay
You'll board the passenger boat Bjarnarnes at 9:00 AM from Ísafjörður harbor for a 2.5-hour sail to Hornvík Bay, taking in the dramatic coastline and bays of Hornstrandir along the way. After landing at the old farm of Horn, you'll start a full-day hike heading toward Hornbjarg bird cliffs. The route begins at Horn's tip with bay views, then climbs Mt. Miðfell before dropping down to Miðdalur Valley where whooper swans and kittiwakes hang out. From there you'll cross over the ridge of Múli and make the steep push up to Kálafatindar peak at 535 meters, which gives you views across Iceland's North Coast and Drangajökull Glacier. You'll finish with a descent back to camp and dinner.

Hornvík Bay
This day starts with a hearty breakfast and then you're hiking past Dríðandi waterfall, where your guide will share stories about polar bear visits from Greenland. The trek takes you through Innstidalur Valley and over Almenningar Pass toward the cliff edges. Later you'll reach the lighthouse at Látravik for lunch with good views to rest and refuel. After your break, you'll head back over Kyrskará Pass to basecamp where a beach barbecue is waiting for you.

Hornvík Bay to Ísafjörður
You'll have a relaxed morning saying goodbye to Hornvík and the local arctic foxes before trekking across to Veiðileysufljörður in the south. The trek climbs 520 meters through Hafnarskard Pass where you might find snow to play around with on the descent. You'll see your final destination appearing below in the fjord as you make your way down the path to the water. The boat picks you up around 6 to 7 PM for the one-hour journey back to Ísafjörður.
