Arrival in Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and get checked into your accommodation. Take some time to settle in and get ready for the cycling adventure that's about to start along Portugal's Silver Coast. This is a good moment to familiarize yourself with your bike and the general area around where you're staying.

Porto to Furadouro
Start cycling from Porto toward Furadouro, crossing the iconic Don Luis I bridge and passing through Vila Nova de Gaia where you can see the famous Porto wine cellars. You'll head through to Senhor da Pedra chapel at Miramar Beach, then continue through Ovar to check out the Chapel of the Steps, a National Interest Monument. Along the way, you'll taste traditional local fish dishes and regional specialties. The route blends coastal views with cultural stops throughout the day.

Furadouro to Aveiro
You'll follow road N327 along the coast toward Aveiro, cycling through fishing villages like Torreira and passing the S. Jacinto natural reserve where you can spot different bird species. A ferry boat crossing gets you to Aveiro, known as the little Venice of Portugal. Once there, visit the Jesus Monastery, walk through the train station to see the decorative tiles, and take a boat tour on the Ria de Aveiro. It's a full day of cycling and exploration combined.

Aveiro to Costa Nova do Prado
You'll cycle about 48km to Ílhavo, which has Vista Alegre porcelain manufacturing with more than 200 years of history. From there, head to Costa Nova do Prado and you'll see the distinctive striped beach houses painted in vertical colored bands. The landscape here mixes beaches, rural areas, and the iconic haystack houses right on the waterfront, creating a unique setting unlike other coastal towns you've visited.

Costa Nova do Prado to Figueira da Foz
This leg takes you through the beautiful Barrinha lagoon area fed by the Ria de Aveiro. You'll cycle through a famous pine forest in the dunes where sea breezes and pine tree aromas create a really nice atmosphere. The region is popular for sailing and windsurfing if you want to watch or try those activities. By the end of the day, you'll arrive at Figueira da Foz, called the 'Queen of the Silver Coast,' known for its long beaches where the River Mondego flows into the sea.

Figueira da Foz to Coimbra
Today you'll cycle about 55km inland, moving away from the coast but following the Mondego River. This river comes from Serra da Estrela, the highest point of continental Portugal, and the water here is known for being pure and clear. You'll end up in Coimbra, a city with lots of cultural heritage, historic monuments, nostalgic fado houses, and that atmosphere of a university town. It's a different pace compared to the coastal cycling you've been doing.

Departure from Coimbra
