- WMWilliam· September 21st, 2023Overpriced and false advertising about the age limit resulted in a poor overall experience. The tour itinerary and the leader/driver were excellent and would get 5 stars however Acacia advertise these tours as exclusively for people 18-39 and this simply wasn't the case. When we arrived half the tour group were elderly (well into their 60's and 70's) and that meant straight away the group was divided into the young and the old. This also meant that I was partnered with an old man in my accommodation who snored so loudly it was completely impossible to sleep, even with ear plugs. This meant I was left with no choice but to pay more money to upgrade my accommodation to a single room and this simply blew out the cost of this holiday. I paid approximately $1400 more for the accommodated version of this tour so i could ensure i got a decent night sleep, but then had to pay another $500 or so to upgrade during the tour for my own room. If I had been on the camping version of the trip to start with I would have likely saved close to $1000.Show moreAcacia Adventure Holidays commented on this reviewDear William, Thank you for your review of our 21-day Serengeti to Victoria Falls Adventure Accommodated Tour. - AAndreaDamiani· August 2nd, 2019Starting this trip, I was a little worried about how I would be solo travelling in Africa. Moyenda was an amazing tour guide who is full of information and if he doesn’t know the answer to your question he’ll be sure to find out. He is very easy going with getting to know everyone and making sure we have the best trip possible. My trip wouldn’t have been the same without Moyenda!Show moreAcacia Adventure Holidays commented on this reviewOh wow! What lovely words, we'll let Moyenda know for sure, thank-you! Asked on May 14th, 2024Do i need a sleeping bag? Is the luggage limited? I travel with a 60l backpack and a small day pack. Do i have to take single accomodation or can i share?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written May 2024
Solo camping travellers will share a tent with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender. You will need to bring a sleeping bag (and pillow and towel). Luggage: Each passenger has an allocated Truck Locker to fit all their belongings in. Most people bring along a backpack (or other soft bag, no hard cases advised) and a smaller day bag. The locker measurements are: approx. 700mm x330mm x540mm

Traveler•Written May 2024Does the adventure pass also includes the in the itinary mentioned optional choises or do they have to be paid extra? Is diving/snorkling equipment provided on Sansibar and lake Malawi? And, as we cross several borders, how is it with local currency, or are visa/MasterCard/wise(debit) widely accepted? The sleeping bag doesnt need to be for under 5°C i suppose, or?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written May 2024
The Adventure Pass does not include the optional activities - those are arranged and paid for locally and directly to the provider of the activities. We suggest clients bring USD cash with them - as this is the most widely accepted currency. Or to only draw sufficient amount of local currency in each country, can't use local currencies cross-borders. Most activity centres, shops and restaurants will have card machines, VISA and MasterCard credit cards are suggested. A standard sleeping bag will do, if it does get a little cooler you can always layer up on warmer clothing at night.

Asked on January 6th, 2023Will I need to share the tent with someone I don't know? Also, while in the Serengeti, is there an option to take a hot air balloon ride? Also, will we sleeping on the ground inside the tents or will there be a cot?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written January 2023
Tents are 2-person sized so you would share a tent with another passenger of the same gender. If we happen to have an odd number of men and women in the group them someone will have a tent to him/ herself. We provide all camping equipment including a sleeping mat but not a sleeping bag or pillow, which you must bring yourself. It is usually possible to do the hot air balloon in the Serengeti, although it is weather dependent and we do not take bookings in advance. The cost purchased locally is (approx) USD 500.

Asked on June 14th, 2022I was interested in a few add ons that i have seen with other operators, such as Hot Air Ballooning in the Serengeti, white water rafting at Vic Falls, and upgrading 4wd vehicles and extended wildlife drives etc. Where do i find these with this tour please?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written June 2022
Many thanks for your message. Hot Air Ballooning can be arranged if time allows, but this is done locally and your Tour Leader will assist in booking this directly while in the Serengeti.

Asked on November 20th, 2017What is the Adventure Pass?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2017
Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
