Asked on December 14th, 2022I have been wanting to do a trekking tour for forever. I have never done one what would you recommend for someone like me. Do we have to supply our own trekking equipment
- Ace the HimalayaOperator•Written December 2022
We would be happy to organize the Everest Adventure trek for you. This trip doesn't include the personal trekking gears and instead you can buy them in the shops in Kathmandu. You can only rent the sleeping bag and down jacket from us.

Asked on May 22nd, 2017What immunizations will I need?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017No vaccinations are compulsory in Himalaya, but we do recommend you are covered for diphtheria & TB, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, *malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus.
We also recommend:
· A dental check-up prior to traveling.
· That you know your blood group in case of emergency.
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions which might affect you on tour, you make these known to your tour leader and Ace the Himalaya at the time of your booking.

Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Do you use yaks/porters on the trek or do we carry all of our own gear?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017Whilst on the trek, our porter will take care of your luggage. All you need to carry is your small day bag for your personal belongings like camera, water bottle, sun cream etc only.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Can I add extra days to my trekking trip?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017Holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Is Ace the Himalaya's staff insured?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017Our company insures all our trekking staff members, including guides, cooks, Sherpas and porters. Please browse though Company Information pages to view insurance details.

Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017What opportunities will I have for shower along the trek?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017In major places (Namche Bazar, Lukla), we arrange guesthouse with hot shower. And in rest of the places, hot water in the bucket will be provided for your shower; it would cost you extra about USD 3-4 per shower.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Do I need to tip my guide and porters? How much would that be?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 20 to USD 1000 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you to spend minimum 10% of your total trip cost for tipping entire local staffs, the ratio of tipping guide and porter will be given to you at the pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu before starting the trek.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017How much additional money do I need per day?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017It depends on your spending habits. Generally, in Kathmandu, you can allocate USD 10 to USD 15 for lunch and a dinner. USD 20 to USD 30 per person a day will be enough to buy meals, bottles of water, chocolates, pay for the hot shower and a few drinks during the trekking.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Can I use credit cards in the places I visit in trekking?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017In the cities, yes – to some extent. Once you are out of the cities, all you need is cash. Please change the currency in local Nepali Rupees before you go to the mountains.
- D
Dale
Asked on May 22nd, 2017Is there any communication while we are on trekking?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017There are telephones in some villages along the trekking routes from which you can make international calls. All our guides are equipped with the local mobile phone. You may wish to pass the number of our guide to your family for the callback or you can make a call from the guide’s mobile and pay him directly for the international call too.
