The free time is built in for when everything (traffic, lost passengers, ferry delays) is perfect - they need to widen the time frames. There was not enough free time to even relax before dinner. We were first time travellers and could have used instruction booklets for hotel procedures ahead of time. North America’s perception of a 4 star hotel is different. Many elderly people require their medication to be refrigerated and there only 3 out of 10 hotels with that option. Our guide Diermaid and driver Lee were absolutely wonderful and showed an infinite amount of caring and patience. While there were some things I would have done differently, overall I was extremely happy. Rather than tour Edinburgh Castle, I would have seen Hollyrood Palace.
