- Loren· October 15th, 2024First the positive. Olbia, Maddalena, and Bonifacio are beautiful. The waters are crystal clear. The sailing is amazing. The approach to Corsica is particularly stunning. The captain was extremely competent and we always felt safe. We only had 3 people plus the captain on the boat, which made the accommodations comfortable enough (8 people would have been way too many for me). On the not so positive side, the beaches were just ok and the snorkeling was unimpressive. We did not experience any walking trails nor much wild life. Breakfasts and lunches were all on the boat, as were 4 dinners. It was not our understanding that, literally, the captain’s only responsibility was to sail the boat. He didn’t help with paying for, preparing, or cleaning up after meals. With only the 3 passengers, this meant that on our vacation, we took care of him. We called him when lunch/dinner was ready and cleaned his dishes when we were all done. He didn’t seem particularly appreciative nor did he reciprocate in any way. He didn’t offer tips on walking trails or comment on wild life opportunities. He took the zodiac out once, on request. Basically, he dropped anchor and we were on our own. Overall, it was a beautiful trip but it didn’t totally live up to the expectations set by the itinerary.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for your thoughtful review, Loren! - ACatherine B· September 18th, 2019the quality of leader makes sailing a pleasure with Intrepid and this trip has lived up to expectations. Reece has that rare combination of qualities - skill as a captain and the ability to work well and thoughtfully with his “crew”. life on a boat is at close quarters and Reece made every effort to look after everyone whilst taking good care as a sailor. Thank you Reece.Show moreTrip date: May 2019
- Kate· August 28th, 2018Great week sailing with a fantastic group of solo travellers! Nuncio looked after us all really well and involved us in decisions. A pretty relaxed pace but with opportunity to explore and sight see as well. Would definitely recommend!Show moreTrip date: August 2018
- JessiH· July 12th, 2018This thril was fantastic, I would highly recommend it. Our skipper Noon was brilliant and made the trip so great. We had a great mix of people on our tour and it was a lot of fun. Noon cooked food for us and that was some of the best Italian food I have ever had. When we were at the harbours he took us to some fantastic restaurants and great little bars. The beaches and swimming spots each day were amazing, there was a lot of swimming and waking up anchored in quiet bays surrounded by islands was so nice. We went to Bonifacio and it was so beautiful there. We had some rough weather during our trip, but Noon chose spot to anchor or habours to stay at that were safe and out of the bad weather. My only slightly negative comments would be about the actual boat. One of the fridges didn’t work for the duration of the trip and the cabin area of the boat wasn’t overly clean when we boarded and wasn’t stocked with linen. Thankfully the next day we had linen supplies to us.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHI Jessi, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. Traveler•Written July 2025I have lower back troubles and have difficulty sleeping on a soft bed. Is the single person bed a fold down type bed? What about the couples cabin, is it one bed or bunk bed type?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written July 2025
There are no single cabins onboard, all rooming will be in double share cabins. We do have a photo on our direct website on what the beds will look like however, I am not sure how soft it is.

Asked on April 15th, 2025What airport do we fly into? I'm assuming Milan or Rome from LAX But to Sardinia, then to Olbia is where I need guidance. What is the size of the yacht?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written April 2025
For this sailing tour, it will start & end in Olbia, Sardinia. The closest airport to Olbia is the "Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport." We sadly cannot assist with airfare or flight routes as it greatly depends on your dates, budget, desired stops etc. The yacht used for this voyage is the Sun Odyssey 490, which has a maximum 8 person capacity. The yacht is a Mono Hull Sailing Yacht, Model Sun Odyssey 490, Total passengers: 8, Length: 49 ft, Width: 14.00 mt, Year Built: 2019, 4 double/twin cabins plus skipper cabin, 3 shared bathrooms with hot water showers, Fully equipped kitchen with gas stove/oven, Saloon with seating for 10, Radio with Bluetooth.

Asked on June 30th, 2024How long is the yacht? How many cabins or berths does it have? How many showers/restroom?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written July 2024
This trip is accommodated entirely on board a yacht of between 48ft to 52ft. A typical yacht for 8 travellers is equipped with 4 double share cabins, 2/3 shared bathrooms and 2 showers. Our boats are real yachts and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. Rooms are allocated on arrival by our skipper according to group composition, which means it is not possible to reserve or guarantee any specific berth or cabin. Single passengers will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender, this will mean sharing a double cabin with a double mattress. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms on board. While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.
