Itinerary
- Day 1
Salta
A driver will meet you at Salta airport or the bus station and take you to your hotel for the night. This gives you time to settle in and rest up before the real exploring begins tomorrow.
- Day 2
Salinas - Purmamarca
You'll head out early, somewhere between 7:00 and 7:45 am, toward the Great Salt Flats sitting at 3,450m. The white desert there is something else, and you can walk around the salt sculptures. The drive takes you up Route 52 through Lipan Pass at 4,170m where the mountain views are really impressive. Along the way you'll stop to watch local craftsmen at work. By 6pm you'll roll into Purmamarca and have time to check out the main plaza and look through the handicrafts before settling in for the night.

Humahuaca - Salta
After breakfast, you're heading north through the Quebrada de Humahuaca region, stopping in several small towns along the way. Maimarà is first, then Tilcara where you can see the Pucará fortress and the Archaeological Museum. Next comes Uquía to visit the local church, followed by Humahuaca where you'll get a feel for the colonial atmosphere. You'll also stop in San Salvador de Jujuy to see its monuments and hear about local stories. The drive back to Salta takes until around 7:00 or 8:00 pm, so it's a full day of moving around but you see a lot of the region.

Salta
This day is yours to spend however you like in Salta. You can wander around the colonial town at your own pace, pop into the museums that interest you, and generally get a feel for the place. The MAAM (Museum of Anthropology of the University of Salta) is popular if you want to learn more about the region's history and culture.

Salta
Someone will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to Salta airport or the bus station so you can head out. Make sure to have everything packed and ready to go before they arrive.
