Overall very good hiking and sightseeing tour. Nice group of people, 10 with the leader 11. Happy with accommodation, breakfast and facilities where we stayed. Good to travel in a spacious and air conditioned coach. The places we visited and hiked were mostly amazing. What let the experience down slightly is insufficient time allocated for the long hikes for slower but fit hikers like myself. There were at least 2 others who struggled with the same problem. We could have done with another hour to allow for more frequent and slightly longer breaks. Then we could have completed the longer and tougher hikes. As it is we had to stop before reaching the top as we were exhausted. It is very important when hiking mostly steep routes (where it is up and up and up) all the time and there are older hikers 60+ but fit hikers to allow more time and longer breaks. They cannot be expected to keep up with much younger fit hikers! The tour is advertised for ages up to 80 but it would help if more was done to accommodate older, fit hikers.

Good Accommodation, Transport and Locations. Hikes could be more challenging than expected. Itinerary description didn’t always reflect options available. Plans changed often which caused confusion and some disappointment

So a few issues on this trip. 1. Language barrier. 2. Guide had the biggest ego. Refereed himself as a Demi god. What an idiot 3. Guides left people on the trail. To fast and didn’t wait for the slower part of the group. Even though we were engorged to work as a team. Ya right. What a joke 4. Guide blames a guest for not being responsible enough for random Covid testing. 6. No communication in case of an emergency . I was told we would find a pay phone or satellite phones won’t get through the cloud cover. Ya right idiots. Air line pilots up in 40,0000 feet use satellite phone during lightning storms. Are you kidding me. With today’s technology. In other words a Mickey Mouse small company that I will never use and strongly not recommend Good luck if you pick these guys. A bunch of idiots.

What is the level of fitness required for hikes

    Tour Details
    • Timberwolf Tours Ltd.OperatorWritten January 2025

The tour is designed with hikes possible for anyone with good mobility, motivation and ability to walk up and down hill for a good portion of the day. On this trip there are a few full day hikes, taking about 5-6 hours, and some shorter hikes 1-3 hours. Of course while hiking the group takes breaks, and the pace is determined by the group. For each hike, the guide will suggest (and help organize) alternatives for individuals who decide not to join the guided hike. This may be an easier walk on a well marked trail, or a paid option like a canoe rental or gondola.

While we do not have the possibility of a private adventure, our scheduled September 7th departure has space for seven more people. The hotels will be Acclaim Hotel Calgary Airport, Irwin's Mountain Inn, Lake Louise Inn and Becker's Chalet. Each property can have rooms with two queen beds and rooms with one queen.

We need 4 rooms, each with 1 queen bed $ bathrooms. Would the cost be the same per person, $2495.?

    • R

      Ron

      TravelerWritten May 2024

A double bed is a full bed. Are you calling the rooms with the queen beds a double room? The one person that is by herself is a widow. It would not be fair to ask her to pay $1,000. more than us because she doesn't want to sleep with a stranger!

    • Timberwolf Tours Ltd.OperatorWritten May 2024

The solo traveler would have a room to herself if she paid the single supplement. If she chose not to, then she would share a hotel room with two beds with another female also on the tour.

    • Timberwolf Tours Ltd.OperatorWritten May 2024

The names of rooms does get confusing. Hotel rooms with two beds (regardless of the beds' size) are often referred to as a Twin Room. The bed sizes can be twin/single, double, queen or king. Most hotel rooms have double or queen sized beds when the room has two beds in it.
