  1. Day 1

    Vienna

    Your Austrian adventure starts in Vienna where your private driver meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel in the city center. Depending on when you land, there's time for a casual evening walk along the Ringstrasse. You'll pass some of Vienna's most iconic buildings like the State Opera House and Parliament, which look particularly nice when the sun's going down.

  2. Day 2

    Vienna to Salzburg

    After breakfast at your hotel, a guide walks you through Vienna's historic center, checking out St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Hofburg Palace. You'll have lunch somewhere in the city, then your driver takes over for the three-hour drive west into Austria's countryside. By evening you'll be in Salzburg, where there's time to wander through the old town along the Salzach River and get a feel for the place.

You'll visit Mirabell Gardens with its view toward the fortress, walk through the Getreidegasse where Mozart grew up, and check out Salzburg Cathedral. From there you'll climb up to Hohensalzburg Fortress to see the city spread out below. The afternoon is yours to explore whatever catches your interest.

    Salzburg - Hallstatt - Innsbruck

    Following breakfast, you head into Austria's alpine region with a stop in Hallstatt, a village that shows up in photographs constantly. You'll have time to walk through the market square and visit the 12th-century parish church. There's an option to take the funicular up to the ancient salt mines if you're interested. Then it's on through alpine valleys to Innsbruck, where a local guide introduces you to the city and shows you the Golden Roof and Hofburg Palace.

Inside you'll find 16 different rooms, gardens with a crystal cloud installation, and things for kids to do. You head back to Innsbruck in the afternoon, leaving the rest of the day open to explore the city however you'd like.

You can spend the rest of the day walking around town, strolling along the shore, or even taking a boat ride on the lake if you want something more relaxing.

There's the medieval clock tower to check out and the Hauptplatz, where you'll find Renaissance, baroque, and modern buildings all in one space.

    My husband and I chose this tour specifically because it was by train and we could see so much. I have been on bus tours and didn’t want to spend days on a bus. We stayed in Frankfurt a couple days more at the beginning and we loved that. Old town Frankfurt is beautiful. We had one day in both Cologne and Bremen and felt it was enough. They are both beautiful though! Hamburg is a gorgeous port city. The Miniatur Wunderland is definitely worth the visit - it is incredible. And then the boat tour and hop on/hop off bus was also great to have. We felt that we saw so much in Hamburg in 2 days. Berlin has a guided tour, Potsdam and Sachsenhausen. All of these were great to see. We also went to Museum Island and saw a few of the museums too. I love WWII history so we got our fill of it here. Then Munich, I love Munich. We walked the Marienplatz and then there was the day trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. We paid to go inside (which is extra) and we felt it was worth seeing. I did not know that Neuschwanstein was unfinished but what is there is extravagant. We also took in several beer halls including Hofbrauhaus. I think if we had another day in Munich, it would have been better (but that’s another reason to go back!). We were in constant contact with Javi, our guide, through WhatsApp. He would answer questions and offer suggestions throughout the trip. This is also how you receive your vouchers. It was the perfect balance of being on our own and being with a guided tour. There was some confusion over the transfers from the Frankfurt airport (our flight was late and the driver had left) and train stations (we didn’t know where to go), but Javi walked us through it as it happened - minor hiccups. Overall, it was an excellent trip and we would use Eurolatino tours again to help us see more of Europe by train.
