Itinerary
- Day 1
Aburi Botanical Gardens & Oboadaka Waterfalls
Early morning you'll drive up into the Akwapim Hills and spend the first part of your day at Aburi Botanical Gardens, which has been around since 1890. The grounds are filled with royal palms, tropical plants, and some unusual tree species that you won't see every day. There's also an old helicopter sitting in the middle of everything, slowly being overtaken by vegetation, which makes for an interesting spot. Your guide will walk you through the garden's history from colonial times and explain why it matters ecologically. After grabbing lunch, you'll head further into the forest to reach Oboadaka Waterfalls where there's a natural pool formed by the water. You can swim if you want, stand right under the falling water, or just sit nearby and take in the surroundings. By late afternoon you'll head back down from the hills.
