Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Naples to Sorrento

You'll arrive in Naples and get a private transfer that takes you to your hotel in Sorrento. After you've had time to settle in, a local guide meets you for a walking tour through Sorrento. The tour hits the main spots like Piazza Tasso and the Cathedral, but also takes you down quiet alleyways where you can see local woodwork shops and smaller details you'd otherwise miss. The walk finishes at Marina Grande, the old fishing village by the water where boats still come and go.

  2. Day 2

Amalfi Coast - Positano - Amalfi - Ravello

This full-day tour covers the Amalfi Coast with a guide who knows the area well. You'll start by walking through Positano's narrow streets lined with shops and cafes, then head to Amalfi to check out the main piazza and grab some local pastries. If it's busy season, you'll take a fast boat between towns instead of driving the winding roads. Later you reach Ravello, which sits high on the cliffs with views that go on for miles, and you can browse through artisan shops there. By evening you're back in Sorrento with free time to do what you want.

  3. Day 3

    Sorrento to Naples via Pompeii

You check out from your hotel and get picked up for a private transfer to Naples, but first you'll stop at Pompeii. A licensed guide meets you there and gets you priority access so you skip the regular lines. From there you walk through the ancient Roman city that got buried under ash from Mount Vesuvius back in 79 AD. The guide points out the Forum, Basilica, Temple of Jupiter, and the market area, plus the plaster casts that show what people looked like when they were buried. This guided portion takes roughly two and a half hours, then you continue on to Naples for the rest of your day.

This was a great tour, and everything was well organized. We were picked up from the airport, and brought directly to the hotel, Unconventional Sorrento which was lovely and charming with a beautiful patio and garden. The staff at the hotel were excellent and accommodating. The hotel offers a shuttle for 10 euro, for the duration of your stay, that will take you to the main piazza nearby. The shuttle ride really makes you feel like you’re in an Italian movie! The tour operators gave excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants when not completing the tour. Miriam was very responsive and helpful in the time leading up to the tour and while in Italy. She even got us a reservation at a wonderful and highly coveted restaurant nearby. We also really enjoyed the group tours to Capri, Amalfi, and Sorrento. All of our guides were kind and enthusiastic. Maria even did the whole Capri tour with a sore throat! It is good to know that the company offers day tours open to other travelers so you will be with different groups every day. This was a nice way to meet other travelers. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend this tour to other travelers.

The early morning start was well worth it—it let us beat the crowds and explore the site during the cooler hours. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, truly bringing the ancient city to life with engaging stories and fascinating insights. Skipping the admission lines was a major bonus, allowing us to make the most of our time among the remarkably preserved ruins. Walking through excavated homes, marketplaces, and public baths—and seeing the vibrant frescoes up close—was nothing short of amazing. It’s awe-inspiring to witness how the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius literally froze a moment in time. The bus transportation was comfortable and efficient, and getting back to Sorrento by afternoon gave us plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a truly memorable and insightful visit to Pompeii!

Loved this Italy trip! At the end of March I was on this 5-day tour of the Amalfi Coast, Capri, and Pompeii, and it was really good! Getting from Naples to Sorrento was easy, and seeing Capri and Pompeii was amazing: the Blue Grotto was so cool, and Pompeii was just as impressive as I expected. But my favorite day? Definitely the trip to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello (Day 3). Seriously, the drive along the coast is beautiful. Positano is like a picture, all those colorful houses on the side of the hill. It was fun just walking around there. Amalfi was lively, and then Ravello, up in the mountains, had the most incredible views. Those gardens were something else! That whole day was just perfect, and our guide was a big reason why. He shared fascinating insights into the history, culture, and hidden gems of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, transforming what could have been a simple sightseeing trip into a rich and engaging learning experience. If you're thinking about seeing this part of Italy, I'd totally recommend this tour!
