Ushuaia
You'll arrive in Ushuaia and head to your pre-voyage hotel, with check-in from 3 pm. Stop by the hospitality desk between 3 and 7 pm to pick up luggage tags and let them know if you're interested in the Lake Escondido tour tomorrow (if you arrive after 7 pm, just visit the desk between 8 and 8:45 am the next morning). The rest of the day is yours to explore the area.

Ushuaia to At Sea
After breakfast, check out and get your cabin luggage tagged for the ship. You have the option to join the Lake Escondido tour at 8:45 am from the hotel, which takes you through glacial valleys and Garibaldi Pass to see Lake Escondido, finishing with a traditional lamb barbecue at a local ranch before returning for embarkation. If you skip the tour, head straight to the pier for check-in. Board the M/V Sylvia Earle, settle into your cabin, and attend mandatory briefings. Later you'll gather on deck as the ship departs, then join a welcome dinner to meet other passengers and crew.

At Sea
You're crossing the South Atlantic toward the Falklands today as you get used to sea travel. The expedition team covers wildlife guidelines and biosecurity procedures, then starts the lecture program on regional history, wildlife, and environment. Spend time on deck watching for seabirds like albatrosses and giant petrels following the ship.

Falklands
The windswept Falklands Islands come into view, a remote archipelago with over 700 islands, white sand beaches, and clear waters. You'll make twice-daily landings or Zodiac excursions (dress in layers) to watch for seals, sea lions, dolphins, and penguins in rocky coves and along sea cliffs. Visit albatross colonies and penguin rookeries, and enjoy traditional English tea and scones at a local cottage.

Falklands
Weather permitting, you'll land in Stanley, the Falklands capital, and explore the charming town with its British character: terraced townhouses, pioneer cottages, and a famous red telephone box. Wander through cosy cafes and English pubs, check out souvenir shops, visit the post office, and see the Historic Dockyard Museum covering maritime history and Antarctica connections. Polar plungers can take a full dip in polar waters if conditions allow.

At Sea to South Georgia
You'll arrive at the rugged South Georgia as weather and sea conditions allow. Watch for jagged mountain peaks rising steeply from the water, a 3,000-meter snow-capped mountain range, and seabirds soaring around the ship. Sail down the glaciated coastline, and weather permitting, you may pass close to Shag Rocks, a fascinating group of jagged rocky islets near South Georgia.

Bundle up and join Zodiac excursions into craggy coves and along the rocky coastline to watch nesting penguins, seal haul-outs, and bird cliffs. See kelp forests with their fronds moving in the water. Travel by Zodiac to some of the world's largest king penguin colonies, take guided walks among fur seals and elephant seals (maintaining proper distance), and walk along pebbled streams and grassy glacial plains.

At Sea to Antarctic Peninsula
As you approach Antarctica, you'll spot your first icebergs and breathe in the crisp air. Weather and time permitting, you may follow the coastline of Elephant Island, a half-submerged mountain covered in ice sheets at the outer limits of the South Shetland Islands. Once at the Antarctic Peninsula, the western side and South Shetland Islands await exploration. With nearly 24 hours of daylight, your days can be as full as you want.

As you approach Frei Base on King George Island, say farewell to Antarctica and your polar adventure. Reflect on your experiences before boarding your flight (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes) to Punta Arenas, Chile. When you arrive at Punta Arenas airport, you'll transfer to your group hotel.
