Grab fresh ceviche for lunch, then spend the evening watching the sunset over the Pacific with a pisco sour in hand.

Arequipa to Colca Canyon
Leave Arequipa and drive through Salinas and Aguada Blanco national reserve heading toward one of the world's deepest canyons. The route takes you past windswept landscapes and sandstone cliffs. Stop for hot coca tea along the way, then reach the journey's highest point at 4,910 metres/16,108 ft, matching Mont Blanc's elevation.

Colca Canyon
Wake early for a chance to spot the Andean Condor with its 3 metre wingspan, though sightings vary from 10 birds some days to none at all. Either way, take in the canyon views throughout the morning. Drive past small villages and stop for lunch in Chivay, then continue to Puno on Lake Titicaca's shores at 3,657 metres/12,008 ft. Keep things relaxed this evening given the altitude.

Cusco to Sacred Valley
Travel from Cusco by private coach to the Sacred Valley where Incan ruins wait. First stop is a llama farm to see llamas, vicunas and alpacas up close. - Day 10
Machu Picchu
Today you reach Machu Picchu, built around 1450 at the height of the Incan Empire and one of the seven wonders of the new world. A guided tour covers the Temple of the Three Windows and Huayna Picchu peak, plus you'll have free time to explore on your own. Afterward, board the train back to Cusco and spend the evening exploring Cusco's markets and cobbled streets, maybe even trying cuy (guinea pig) like a true local.
