    Lima

    Start in Lima checking out Spanish colonial churches and the underground catacombs this morning. Head to Barranco afterward and walk the cobblestone streets, crossing the Bridge of Sighs. Grab fresh ceviche for lunch, then spend the evening watching the sunset over the Pacific with a pisco sour in hand.

    Arequipa to Colca Canyon

    Leave Arequipa and drive through Salinas and Aguada Blanco national reserve heading toward one of the world's deepest canyons. The route takes you past windswept landscapes and sandstone cliffs. Stop for hot coca tea along the way, then reach the journey's highest point at 4,910 metres/16,108 ft, matching Mont Blanc's elevation.

    Colca Canyon

    Wake early for a chance to spot the Andean Condor with its 3 metre wingspan, though sightings vary from 10 birds some days to none at all. Either way, take in the canyon views throughout the morning. Drive past small villages and stop for lunch in Chivay, then continue to Puno on Lake Titicaca's shores at 3,657 metres/12,008 ft. Keep things relaxed this evening given the altitude.

    Lake Titicaca - Taquile and Uros Islands

    Take a triciclo (three-wheeled bike taxi) to the port and explore Lake Titicaca, South America's largest freshwater lake. Visit Taquile Island to meet local weaving groups and have lunch, then head to the Uros floating islands made entirely of reeds. Check out a fish farm and reed island museum before ending at a homestay in Llachon Village with local families.

Finish in Cusco with the evening free to explore the ancient Incan hub.
