Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo to Fayoum Desert
You'll head out from Cairo toward Fayoum early in the morning, starting your day with a drive through changing landscapes. Once there, you'll check out Qasr El Sagha Temple, an ancient structure that sits in this remote area, and then move on to see the Greco-Roman ruins scattered around Dimaa El Sebaa. The Petrified Forest comes next, where you can walk through the fossilized remains and get a sense of what this region looked like millions of years ago. After that, you'll make your way to Qusoor El Arab where your desert camp is set up. By evening, you'll settle in for a traditional Bedouin-style dinner, and later you can spend time stargazing under the open sky.

Fayoum Desert to Cairo
This morning you'll travel to the Valley of the Whales, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you'll see fossilized whale remains that are about 40 million years old scattered throughout the area. It's a pretty unique landscape for walking around and understanding how this desert was once covered by water. After spending time exploring there, you'll head to Magic Lake for a picnic lunch surrounded by sand dunes and open desert. From there, you'll begin your drive back toward Cairo, arriving by evening and heading back to the city.
