Athens
You'll arrive in Athens and get transferred to your hotel. Spend the afternoon settling in and checking the information boards at reception to get details about upcoming tour activities.

Athens
Start with a guided tour through Athens, hitting the Presidential Mansion, Panathenaic Stadium, National Library, and various city squares. You'll see neighborhoods that were developed for the 2004 Olympic Games. Later in the day, head to the Acropolis on your own, then transfer to Plaka for dinner at traditional Greek tavernas in the evening.

Athens - Kamena Vourla - Thermopylae - Kalambaka
Leave early heading north through Greece, stopping at the seaside town of Kamena Vourla for its scenery. Continue to Thermopylae Mountain Pass, the famous ancient battle site. You'll walk through the charming village of Kastraki with time for lunch, then explore the Meteora UNESCO site with monastery admission included. Dinner happens in Kalambaka.

- Day 4
Kalambaka - Thessaloniki - Melnik - Sandanski
Travel through northern Greece's mountain scenery toward the Aegean Sea. Stop in Thessaloniki, Greece's second city, for lunch and exploring. Then cross into Bulgaria and visit Melnik, a small museum town known for wine production and set in nice landscapes. The day ends in Sandanski, a spa town that was supposedly Spartacus's birthplace. Dinner is included.

- Day 5
Sandanski - Rila - Sofia
Visit the Rila Monastery, a UNESCO site famous for its fortress-like architecture surrounded by forest, then continue to Sofia arriving by late morning. After lunch, take a guided tour to see St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Russian Church, the Mosque, and the city's squares with Stalinist architecture. You'll have free time after to explore on your own.

Sofia to Istanbul
After breakfast, head to the airport for your included flight to Istanbul. Once you arrive, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace. The afternoon brings detailed information about this section of your trip from the team or hotel information boards.

- Day 7
Istanbul
Take a sightseeing tour around Istanbul, going inside the Süleymaniye Mosque, the largest in the city. You'll see the ancient walls, Golden Horn, and the busy fishing district, plus the exterior of Hagia Sophia. The Topkapi Palace visit includes tickets and features magnificent courtyards and pavilions. The afternoon is free for exploring, then transfer to Taksim for dinner and to see the old tram, or visit nearby Galata Tower.

- Day 8
Istanbul
Take a private boat trip on the Bosphorus for about two hours, an experience just for Europamundo travelers. You'll journey through the strait connecting the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, pass under two bridges linking Europe and Asia, and see Sultan's palaces and Ottoman architecture. After returning to central Istanbul, you have free time.

- Day 9
Istanbul - Ephesus - Kusadasi
Leave early for Ephesus, arriving around lunch time at this well-preserved ancient city that once had 250,000 residents 2,000 years ago. Visit the Basilica of St. John, the House of the Virgin Mary, and the archaeological site with tickets included. Continue to Kusadasi, a lively coastal town with a castle. Dinner is included. Note: May to October, you'll stay in Aydin instead with a 4:30-7:00 p.m. stop in Kusadasi.

Kusadasi - Lake Bafa - Bodrum - Marmaris
Head out early to Lake Bafa, one of Turkey's natural wonders, then travel to Bodrum, a fortified city where you can explore the castle or wander through lively streets and the marina. After lunch, go on to Marmaris, another popular coastal town with a castle, pier, and fountains. Dinner is included. Summer accommodations may be in nearby Mugla instead.

- Day 11
Marmaris to Rhodes
Set out early and board the express ferry to Rhodes, about an hour's journey with standard border procedures. Once there, take a tour of Rhodes's walled city and historic quarter, which shows influences from Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Knights of St. John, Ottoman, and Italian periods. The afternoon is yours to explore freely.

- Day 12
Rhodes
Take an included excursion around Rhodes island, starting at Filerimos monastery on a hilltop with views. Head to Lindos to see its fortress and Acropolis, walk through whitewashed streets, relax on beaches, or try a donkey ride up to the Acropolis. After lunch, return to Rhodes city with free afternoon time. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your flight to Crete and then to your hotel in Heraklion. Flight times between Rhodes and Crete vary and may include an Athens stopover.

- Day 13
Heraklion - Rethymno - Chania
Travel west along the coast, stopping first at Rethymno, a nice coastal city of Venetian origin with a medieval castle. Continue to Chania, a city with an impressive fortress and stately mansions that's been contested by Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Genoese, Turks, Egyptians, and Greeks. You'll return to Heraklion at the end of the day.

- Day 14
Heraklion
Visit the Palace of Knossos to explore Minoan culture that shaped Greek civilization 4,000 years ago with admission and guided tour included. Travel through tall mountains heading south toward the Libyan Sea and arrive at Agia Galini, a town with winding streets and a fishing port. You'll have time for lunch and swimming if you want. Return to Heraklion by day's end. November to April, you visit Matala instead, known for its beach and cliff caves.

- Day 15
Heraklion - Kritsa - Agios Nikolaos - Elounda - Spinalonga Island
Travel east along the coast, stopping in Kritsa to visit the 13th-century Panagia Kera church with its excellent frescoes, admission included. Arrive at Agios Nikolaos, a nice town with a natural port where you'll have time to walk around and have lunch. Continue to Elounda, a beautiful former city-state now a tourist area. Take a boat to Spinalonga Island to visit the Fortress of Spinalonga, an ancient Venetian fortress later used as a leper colony. Return by boat and head back to Heraklion for the night.

Heraklion to Santorini
Early morning transfer to the port for a high-speed ferry to Santorini, arriving between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Travel by bus through nice landscapes to Oia, Santorini's most beautiful town, known for white streets, cliffside views, castle ruins, and windmills. Explore and have lunch, then visit Fira, the island's capital. A boat trip to hot springs and sunset viewing from a traditional Mediterranean boat is recommended.
