Arrival in Athens
You'll get transferred to your hotel once you arrive, then have the rest of the day to settle in and get oriented. Stop by the hotel reception in the afternoon to check the boards for information about your tour and what's coming up.

- Day 2
Athens City Tour
This morning you'll explore Athens with a local guide, heading to the Presidential Mansion, Panathenaic Stadium, National Library, and the city center squares. You'll also see the newer neighborhoods that developed after the 2004 Olympics. Later in the day, you have time on your own to check out the Acropolis at your own pace. By evening, you'll transfer to Plaka, the historic neighborhood, where you'll have dinner at traditional Greek tavernas.

- Day 3
Northern Greece to Meteora
Starting early, you'll head north toward Kamena Vourla, a seaside town where you'll make a stop. From there, continue to Thermopylae Mountain Pass to see this historic battle site. Next you'll reach the village of Kastraki where you'll have free time for lunch. After that, you'll explore the Meteora monasteries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you're included for admission to one of them. You'll end the day in Kalabaka with dinner.

- Day 4
Northern Greece to Bulgaria
You'll travel through northern Greece's mountain scenery as you head toward the Aegean Sea. In Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city, you'll have time to explore and grab lunch. Then you'll cross into Bulgaria and visit Melnik, a museum town known for wine production. The day wraps up in Sandanski, a spa town where Spartacus was born, and dinner is included.

Rila Monastery to Sofia
This morning takes you to Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its fortress-like walls and surrounded by forest. From there you'll head to Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, arriving by late morning. After lunch, you'll have a guided tour of the city, seeing St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Russian Church, the Mosque, and Stalinist architecture. You'll have free time afterward to walk around and explore on your own.
