Itinerary
- Day 1
Rome to Capri to Sorrento to Salerno
You'll head out early from Rome and drive south through Naples toward Capri, where your ferry tickets are already included. Once you arrive, you can either check out the White Grotto or take the cable car up to the center of town, depending on what appeals to you. After grabbing lunch, you'll sail over to Sorrento and have time to walk around this clifftop town before heading down the coast to Salerno for the night.

Salerno to Paola to Villa San Giovanni to Messina to Taormina
Starting early, you'll travel south and pass through the scenic Cilento National Park, making your way to Paola on the Tyrrhenian Sea. There's a visit to the Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola, then free time to grab lunch and explore the historic center at your own pace. Later you'll cross by ferry from Villa San Giovanni over to Sicily, landing in Messina where you can walk around near the cathedral before continuing to Taormina for dinner and your overnight stay.

Taormina to Giardini Naxos to Casale to Palermo
The day starts early as you head to Giardini Naxos, where Sicily's first Greek settlement sits right on the seafront with nice beaches nearby. You'll head back to Taormina's old town and check out the impressive Greek Theater there. After lunch, there's a guided tour included at the Roman Villa of Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you'll see the famous Roman mosaics. Later you'll cross through Sicily's mountainous interior and arrive in Palermo by evening for dinner.

Palermo and Monreale
A local guide will lead you through Palermo's city center, starting with the cathedral where you'll see different architectural styles and the royal tombs inside. Then you'll visit the Palazzo dei Normanni, the former royal palace with fountains, markets, and gardens to explore. From there you'll head to nearby Monreale to see its cathedral, another UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the golden mosaics covering the interior. The afternoon is yours to wander around on your own.
