Itinerary
- Day 1
Provence
Your journey through Provence begins in Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage city where Roman architecture and medieval structures sit alongside locations connected to Van Gogh. You'll start by walking through the historic center, then head out to Les Baux, a medieval village perched on a hillside. The afternoon takes you underground to Carrières de Lumières, where former quarries have been transformed into a space for art and light projections. Later you'll travel to Avignon to see the Palais des Papes, an imposing palace from the 14th century. By evening you'll reach Lyon, where you can explore the old town (also UNESCO-listed) and take the cable car up to Notre-Dame de Fourvirère basilica for views across the city.

- Day 2
Lyon to Dijon
From Lyon, you're heading into Burgundy wine country. The morning starts in Tournus where you'll see an impressive stone gate and a large abbey, then it's on to Beaune, the heart of Burgundy's wine trade. You'll have time for lunch and to walk around town before visiting Savigny Castle. This 15th-century fortress holds unusual museums full of motorbikes, racing cars, planes, and helicopters - quite different from typical castle exhibits. Your day ends in Dijon, Burgundy's capital, where medieval and Renaissance architecture lines the streets, including the Palace of the Dukes.

- Day 3
Burgundy to Alsace
Starting in Besançon, a city with Roman origins and a 17th-century citadel overlooking everything, you'll then travel into Alsace. This region has its own character, blending French and German influences through its architecture and traditions. In Colmar you'll walk past colorful half-timbered houses reflected in the canals. After that comes Riquewihr, a medieval town with cobblestone streets and brightly painted buildings that feel pulled from a storybook. You'll stop at a local winery for a tasting (they typically offer something on the sweeter side here). The evening brings you to Strasbourg.

- Day 4
Strasbourg to Paris
Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace and home to the European Parliament, fills your day with its historic center featuring medieval streets, a large Gothic cathedral, and canals lined with flowers. A boat ride takes you through Petite France, the charming district with narrow streets and old buildings. Later you'll travel toward the Champagne region to visit a traditional Champagne winery where you can tour the cellars and taste wines. From there it's on to Paris, arriving as the afternoon ends.
