Itinerary
- Day 1
Treviso to Caorle
You'll start your cycling adventure out of Treviso early on, following the Sile river as it winds through the Restera region. The route takes you along quiet paved and gravel roads, and you'll find the pace pretty manageable since there's minimal elevation gain. As you get closer to the Venice Lagoon, the landscape opens up and you'll start noticing the shift from inland to coastal terrain. By the end of the day you'll roll into Caorle, a small fishing village with real character. The full distance is about 78 km, so it's moderate but definitely achievable for a first day of riding.

Caorle to Portogruaro
Starting from Caorle, you'll head inland and follow the Lemene river, which gives you a natural path to cycle along. Your destination is Portogruaro, a historic town with plenty of personality. Now here's where you get flexibility: you can either stick to the standard 62 km route, or if you're feeling stronger, there's an optional loop into Friuli province where you can see the Molini di Stalis, these 15th century water mills that are worth the detour. That extended route pushes you to about 92 km, so it really depends on how you're feeling and how much time you want to spend exploring.

Caorle to Chioggia via Lido di Venezia
From Caorle you'll cycle south through Jesolo (a seaside resort area) and continue to Punta Sabbioni. From there things get interesting because you'll hop on a short ferry heading to Lido di Venezia, an 11 km island that's famous for hosting the Venice Film Festival. You'll ride along the island's paths and then take another ferry across to Pellestrina. After that it's one more ferry ride that brings you to Chioggia, sometimes called 'Little Venice' because it has that authentic Venetian vibe without all the tourist crowds you'd deal with in the actual city.

Chioggia and Po Delta Exploration
Your final riding day takes you into the Regional Park of the Po Delta, which is completely different scenery from what you've seen so far. You'll follow the Via delle Valli Cycle Path as it winds through the dykes, and the marshlands here are great for spotting birds and wildlife. You can take the shorter route that loops back to Chioggia, or if you want to go deeper into the delta, head toward Lido di Boccasette and Porto Levante. When you finish, you'll celebrate completing the tour with an aperitivo either along the peaceful Canal Vena or the more lively Corsa del Popolo, depending on your mood.

Chioggia to Venice
Your last morning, it's about an hour transfer from Chioggia to get to Venice Santa Lucia train station. From there you can either spend more time exploring Venice itself, or head straight to Venice Marco Polo airport if your flight is departing. Either way, you'll have completed a solid cycling tour through northeastern Italy with a nice mix of river routes, coastal riding, and delta exploration.
