Itinerary
- Day 1
Lusaka
You'll arrive at Lusaka Airport around midday and get driven to Protea Safari Lodge, which sits near the city. The lodge has modern rooms and you'll have time to settle in before heading to dinner at their restaurant. This gives you a chance to adjust and prepare for the bush ahead.

- Day 2
Chisamba to Kasanka National Park
The drive from Chisamba to Kasanka National Park takes around 6 hours, so you'll be on the road most of the morning and into afternoon. Watch for the rare Sitatunga Antelope near the campsite as you arrive. In the afternoon, you'll take a walking trip to get familiar with the area. That night you'll camp inside the park.

Landmarks Kasanka National Park - Days 3 - 4
Bangweulu Wetlands
After around 4 hours driving, you'll reach Bangweulu Wetlands, a remote area of vast swamps and unique wildlife. On day 3 you'll do an afternoon game drive to check out the landscape. Day 4 brings a search for the Shoebilled Stork, either by foot or canoe depending on water levels and seasonal conditions (the wetlands recede around April). You'll see massive herds of Lechwe across this expansive terrain.

Landmarks Bangweulu Wetlands - Days 5 - 6
Mutinondo Wilderness
The 5 to 6 hour drive to Mutinondo Wilderness takes you to an area with enormous granite boulders scattered through Miombo forest. You'll have a full day to walk around and take in the landscape. Day 6 offers choices between short walks or a longer trek, so you can pick what suits your energy level and interests.

Mutinondo Wilderness to Kapishya Hot Springs
After breakfast you'll drive 4 to 5 hours to Kapishya Hot Springs. In the afternoon there's a walk around the camp and birding opportunities. Before and after hiking, you can soak in the natural hot springs to relax your muscles. The historic house Shiwa N'Gandu is nearby if you want to visit (at your own cost). You'll camp on the Manshya River banks.

Kapishya Hot Springs to North Luangwa National Park
A 3 hour drive gets you to the north-western boundary of North Luangwa National Park where you'll set up at Samala Camp near Mano Gate. Later in the afternoon you'll walk along the river and cool off in a mountain stream after the morning's travel.

Landmarks North Luangwa National Park - Day 9
North Luangwa National Park to Luangwa Valley
You'll descend about 3 hours from 1,400 meters down the escarpment to the Luangwa Valley. As you go lower, temperature rises and forest gives way to hot savannah. A scout leads a short walk near the campsite where you're likely to spot hippo herds, elephants, and various antelope right from camp.

Landmarks Luangwa Valley - Day 10
Luangwa Valley to South Luangwa National Park (Nsefu Sector)
You'll pack up and drive through Luambe National Park to reach the Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa in around 3 hours. The park holds Thornicroft's giraffe, Cookson's Gnu, Crawshay's Zebra, buffalo, and elephants. An afternoon game drive in the Nsefu Sector gets you exploring right away. You'll camp on the Luangwa River near Chibembe Nature Reserve.

Landmarks South Luangwa National Park Luambe National Park - Days 11 - 12
South Luangwa National Park (Central Area)
Driving through traditional villages, you'll reach central South Luangwa and Wildlife Camp after about 1.5 hours. Over the next two days, game drives along the river often turn up spectacular wildlife sightings. The Luangwa River has remarkable numbers of hippo families living here.

- Days 13 - 14
South Luangwa National Park (Bush Camp Walking Trek)
After a morning game drive, you'll pack light and start a walking trek in the afternoon to Bush Camp on the Luangwa River beneath large Natal Mahogany trees. A qualified guide and scout lead you. Day 14 morning, birdsong and sunrise wake you in the bush. After breakfast you'll walk back to camp through wilderness (3 more hours), then enjoy one last game drive as the sun sets.
