- STSueAnn· June 28th, 2024The tour was good overall, but there wasn't much to do in Mestia and Ushguli other than the hikes, which I would have enjoyed more if they hadn't been quite so difficult. And the roads to get to these destinations were rather treacherous and would have been even more so if the weather had been bad. I know we all agreed to go an excursion to an abandoned solarium near Kutaisi, but IMO, it was a waste of time, even though our guide highly recommended it.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you for taking the share your feedback, Sue Ann. - Vivian· October 18th, 2023A great 11 day intro to the republic of georgia including beautiful mountain views, a modern city of Batumi, a historical walk through Tbilisi, and wonderful meals with Georgian hospitality. I couldn't ask for a better weather for the trip. The guide Zurab was full of energy, super fun, and so informative on Georgian culture. He helped me out regarding booking a taxi, getting a sim card and providing ideas during free time. It was a relaxed trip into such an untouristed country with a European flair with old churches and great food. I really wished we had more than a day to explore Ushguli...that's a super cool old timey* place to explore. Long travel days, but lots of unexpected surprises along the way. Highly recommend!!!Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Vivian, thank you for your lovely review! We are so pleased to know how much you enjoyed your time in amazing Georgia. Having a helpful and attentive guide, paired with fantastic weather and exploring 'old timey' places sounds like the perfect... Show moreTrip date: September 2023
- CClaire· November 4th, 2019Georgia in a beautiful country not yet changed by tourism but I think that will happen soon. A great mix of hiking, swimming and local food. Its not a self drive destination so great to be on a tour and to have a leader that could explain about the long history of this great destination.Show moreTrip date: August 2019
- ICIOANNIS· October 11th, 2019The tour was overall very good. I think however that the Stalin museum should be added (e.g. on the way back from Batumi). We were lucky to stop there on our last day because there was no traffic going back to Tbilisi and all participants found this very interesting. I think leaving a bit earlier from Batumi (not at 9h) could enable future groups to not miss this opportunity.Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- SDSandra· October 7th, 2019I think this trip was very expensive for what we got. I traveled independently in Georgia and found it cheap and easy to eat great food, stay in really good accommodation and find specialised guides and transportation. The hotel we stayed in in Mestia cost AUD$35 for a single occupancy with breakfast and dinner. Our cost per day was AUD $200 (without a single supplement). That’s one hell of a lot for a guide and transportation in a country like Georgia. The breakfasts in two of the hotels were atrocious. Given Intrepid used a local company I think there was just far too much cash going to people not contributing anything. I also found Intrepid hopelessly unresponsive to my email enquires in the days leading up to the trip. I’d heard that Intrepid are a great company. Certainly wasn’t my experience and I doubt that I would risk using them again. Certainly won’t be recommending my friends do this. I’ll be telling them to book directly with operators in Georgia.Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- AAlanYu· October 3rd, 2019The mountain scenery was beautiful with snow capped peaks and dense forest and the autumn leafs just changing colours. The last hiking trip to the glacier took six and half hours could be organised better..Instead of walking there and back by the same route, either take us there by 4 wheel drive cars and let us walk back or drive us back after we walk there.Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- AAlanYu· October 3rd, 2019The mountain scenery was beautiful with snow capped peaks and lust forests. The last hiking trip to the glacier could be organised better. Instead of walking to the glacier and back for a total of six and half hours, it would be better if we could be taken there by 4 wheel drive cars and just walked back or just walked there and taken back by car.Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- AJoan C· September 18th, 2019I loved my time in Georgia. I wouldhave preferred to spend more time in Savneti where the history and real beauty is and skipped Batumi which is a long drive and just pretty much just a hectic city - better more mountain days than a beach day, I think. Anyone who takes a trip focused on hikes/mountains like this one isn't going to miss going to Batumi.Show moreTrip date: May 2019
