Itinerary
- Day 1
Lyon
You'll arrive in Lyon and head straight to the Scenic Sapphire river cruise ship for your transfer. Once on board, spend the afternoon checking out your suite and relaxing on the Sun Deck while taking in views of the city. The ship stays docked overnight, so if you feel like it, you can head out to try some of Lyon's well-known restaurants.

- Day 2
Lyon
Today you pick what interests you most in Lyon. There's a guided tour through the historic traboules and Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière, or you could visit the medieval village of Pérouges instead. You'll also find a silk painting workshop or cycling through Tête d'or Park if those appeal to you. Later, the ship heads along the Saône River toward Mâcon as evening arrives.

Mâcon
You wake up in Mâcon, a nice riverside town that works as your starting point for exploring Burgundy and the surrounding area. Choose from a drive through Beaujolais with tastings from a local vintner, a tour of medieval Cluny and its abbey, visiting Château de Cormatin with its gardens, or seeing an organic goat cheese farm with wine tasting included.

Vienne
You arrive early in Vienne, which has 2,000 years of Roman history running through it. Pick between a walking tour that covers the Roman theatre and the city's past, or a cycling tour hitting preserved Roman temples, monuments to Emperor Augustus, and Ile Barlet River Island. Both options give you a real sense of what this place was like centuries ago.

Viviers
Viviers appears like an open-air museum with medieval charm and narrow winding lanes that feel like they're stuck in time. You can take a walking tour through the Cathedral of St. Vincent and other buildings, join a French Resistance walking tour with wartime stories, or head to Grignan with its castle and church. By afternoon, you'll cruise toward Avignon and relax on board.

- Day 6
Avignon
In Avignon, the City of the Popes, options include a guided walk through the city walls and UNESCO-listed Palais des Papes, a tour of the Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard, shopping at local markets with a cooking demo from the ship's chef, or wine tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The afternoon is yours to wander around at your own pace. If you're interested, there's also a private classical concert experience at Palais des Papes in the evening.

Arles
You depart early and reach Arles by breakfast time. This Roman city founded by Julius Caesar has extensive ruins and inspired many of Van Gogh's paintings. Select from a guided tour of the Roman arena and ruins, an olive farm visit in the Alpilles followed by medieval Le Baux, an on-board painting class celebrating the region's art, or a Provence herbal workshop with lavender fields if visiting late June through mid-August.
