Being part of such a small group, eating and staying in a Cambodian family's home, riding a bicycle and tuk-tuks and visiting various small local artisans gave me important and fascinating insights into the friendly, hard-working people of this country. Our guide, Kom, was extremely personable, answered our every question, and his personal experiences with us along with showing us the rich history of Cambodia. He also shared his fascinating and complex personal story, which made the whole Khmer Rouge era of Cambodia very real.
