Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Faro
You'll fly into Faro and meet your ASI representative at the airport for the drive to Turismo Rural Monte João Roupeiro. Depending on when your flight lands, there might be some waiting time, but you'll get settled into your rural hotel base for the week ahead.
- Day 2
Zambujeira do Mar to Azenha do Mar Coastal Hike
Meet your hiking guide at 08:45 at the hotel reception, then transfer to Zambujeira do Mar, a small fishing village known for its dramatic cliffs. The hike covers about 10km along the coastline toward Azenha do Mar, taking roughly 3 hours as you walk through wild flowers, dunes, and rocky terrain with the Atlantic Ocean on one side. You'll grab lunch before heading back to the hotel.

- Day 3
Odeceixe Circular Hike
Starting from Odeceixe beach, you'll hike south on the fishermen's path with coastal views the whole way. The route then turns inland through Maria Vinagre and farmland, bringing you back to Odeceixe where you can visit a restored old mill that overlooks the Seixe river and village rooftops. This hike runs about 12km and takes 3.5 hours total.

Aljezur to Arrifana Hike
Begin in Aljezur, a town with 10th century Moorish castle ruins overlooking it. You'll check out the local market and the castle before transferring to Espartal to start your hike. From there, you'll walk through pine forests and gentle rolling hills with wide views before reaching the wild coastline at Monte Clérigo. The route continues along the coast to Arrifana beach, which is known for surfing and framed by high cliffs. Expect about 13km and 4 hours of walking.

- Day 5
Vila do Bispo to Cabo São Vicente
This hike takes you to Cabo São Vicente, the south-western point of mainland Europe and home to a famous lighthouse. Starting from Vila do Bispo, you'll walk through heathland and fields to reach the rugged Atlantic cliffs, then follow varied terrain including sandy paths, steep cliff edges, and green valleys with ocean views throughout. After reaching Cabo São Vicente, you'll continue to Praia da Luz, covering about 13.3km in 4.5 hours.

- Day 6
Praia da Luz to Salema Coastal Hike
From Praia da Luz, the trail climbs up toward the cliffs with constant ocean and coastal views. You'll pass the small fishing village of Burgau and various bays and secluded beaches along the way. The hike finishes in Salema where you'll have time to relax on the sandy beach. The route is about 12.5km and takes 3.5 hours.

Praia da Luz to Lagos Final Hike
This final stage takes you from Praia da Luz to Lagos, the historic city where your hiking week ends. Along the coast, you'll come across Ponta da Piedade, one of the trail's highlights with its dramatically shaped cliffs, turquoise water, fragile stone arches, and hidden grottos carved by wind erosion. After finishing the 11.9km hike in about 3.5 hours, you'll have time to explore Lagos and its cultural heritage before wrapping up.

Departure from Faro
