Departure to Jakarta
Your journey starts with an evening flight from Germany heading to Jakarta. You'll spend the night in transit, arriving in Indonesia the next morning as your adventure really gets underway.
- Day 2
Jakarta
Touch down at Jakarta International Airport where your local guide meets you for the hotel transfer. After settling in and resting from your flight, the evening takes you on a walk through the historic district toward Fathallah Square. You'll cross Indonesia's oldest suspension bridge on the way to dinner at a local restaurant, getting your first taste of the city's character.

- Day 3
Jakarta to Yogyakarta
Leave early and board a train cutting through Java's rural landscapes. Rice fields, small villages, and tropical greenery roll past your window as you make your way to Yogyakarta, arriving in the afternoon. That evening, head out on a night food tour through the city, trying nasi campur, bakmie, and other local dishes while taking in the sights and sounds of Yogyakarta's street food scene.

Yogyakarta
This morning starts at Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple from the 8th century. You'll also check out the smaller temples of Pawon and Mendut, then cycle for about an hour through the plain between two volcanoes. Stop in villages along the way to see traditional crafts, try playing gamelan, and have lunch in Candirejo village where locals share their hospitality.

Yogyakarta
Start at the Kraton, the sultan's palace with its distinctive Javanese architecture. Wander through the Taman Sari district where markets, handicraft shops, and mosques fill the streets. Take a batik course to make your own souvenir, then after lunch head to Prambanan temple complex and the neighboring Candi Plaosan and Candi Sewu sites, all UNESCO World Heritage locations.

Yogyakarta to Malang
Head to Yogyakarta station early for the Sancaka Executive train ride to Mojokerto, roughly three hours through East Java's scenic terrain. Switch to a bus in Mojokerto and continue toward Malang, stopping at the Wonosari tea plantation. You'll walk through the tea fields, watch the processing from leaf to cup, and taste different varieties.

Malang
Tour Malang by becak, a traditional three-wheeled rickshaw, rolling through palm-lined streets and past colonial Dutch houses. Pass through the local market and a colorful Chinese temple before reaching Jodipan village with its bright painted buildings. Visit the famous Toko Oen café, then drive into the Bromo mountainous region where you'll walk to a nearby village, meet locals, and perhaps help with harvest or meal prep. If conditions allow, catch the sunset from Mentigen Hill.

Bromo
Start very early by jeep to Penanjakan for sunrise over the smoking Bromo volcano complex, weather permitting. Photograph the dramatic views, then drive across the sea of sand to Mount Bromo's base and its strange volcanic terrain. Return to the hotel for breakfast, then continue toward Banyuwangi with lunch at Handayani Restaurant surrounded by gardens. Stop at Pathek Beach in Situbondo to see fishing boats, arriving in Banyuwangi by late afternoon.

Banyuwangi to Ubud
An off-road vehicle takes you early to Paltuding for a hike up to Mount Ijen's crater rim at 2,883 meters. There you'll see the turquoise crater lake, yellow sulphur deposits, and volcanic smoke. Watch workers harvesting sulphur before heading back for breakfast. From there, drive to Ketapang, take the ferry to Bali, and transfer to Ubud where your Java guide departs.

After breakfast, meet your Bali guide for a two-hour e-bike tour covering about 40 km from Batukaru to Jatiluwih. Ride through rolling terrain, lush vegetation, and the UNESCO World Heritage rice terraces while learning about Bali's culture and landscape. Stop several times to take in the views, have a hearty lunch at a local spot, then return to Ubud.

Ubud
Start at Gunung Kawi, an 11th-century temple with ten shrines carved into rock faces above the Pakerisan River. Continue to Pura Tirta Empul with its famous sacred spring where visitors bathe in clear water. Head to Kintamani to see Mount Batur and its lake while having a Balinese lunch on the crater rim. Finish at Tegalalang rice terraces, another UNESCO site perfect for photos, before heading back to Ubud.

Candidasa
Drive to Mount Agung's slopes to see Besakih Temple, Bali's largest and holiest temple also called the Mother Temple. Visit the impressive 18th-century Hall of Justice with its moat and ornate Klungkung paintings. Hike from Kastala through rice fields and small villages, crossing a bamboo bridge to reach Tenganan, a traditional Bali Aga village where original Balinese inhabitants live. The two-hour trek ends there, and you'll drive to Candidasa for the rest of the day.

Candidasa
Start at Taman Tirta Gangga, a water palace with elegant pools and ponds. Check out Puri Kanginan to learn about the ancient Karangasem kingdom through its royal house, gardens, and social hall blending Balinese, Chinese, and European styles. Finish at Virgin Beach with its white sand and calm water, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, or just taking it easy.
