Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Canazei

You'll arrive in Canazei on your own, either by public transport or a private transfer that you arrange. Once there, check into your accommodation and take time to settle in. The Dolomites have a quiet, peaceful feel that hits you right away, so this first day is really just about getting comfortable and adjusting to the mountain atmosphere.

  2. Day 2

    Canazei

This is a longer hiking day starting from Col Rodella. You'll walk along paths with views of the Plattkofel and Sassolungo huts, moving through strange, almost otherworldly terrain between these two massive peaks. The landscape feels lunar in places, which is part of what makes it interesting. Later on, you can descend via the T. Demetz refuge or take the Sassolungo lift if you need a break. Most of the return back to Col Rodella follows gravel roads, so it's less technical but still requires good stamina.

    Breakfast

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike from Col Rodella to Plattkofel refuge to Sassolungo hut to T. Demetz refuge

    Optional Activities

    • Sassolungo lift descent (available if tired or experiencing knee pain)
    Landmarks
    Col Rodella
    Plattkofel
    Sassolungo
  3. Day 3

    Canazei

Today you'll do a circular hike around Catinaccio mountain. The route passes the Malga Vael and Roda di Vael huts, then climbs up to Zigolade Pass. From there, you descend past Forcella di Davoi and the jagged peaks of Rosengartenspitze before passing the Preuss and Gardeccia huts on your way back into Canazei. It's a full-day loop with varied terrain and different elevation sections.

    Breakfast

    Optional Activities

    • Meal stop at Preuss or Gardeccia huts

    Rosengartenspitze
  4. Day 4

    Canazei to Gardena Pass

Starting from Col Rodella, you'll hike along gravel roads and paths with steep mountain faces on your left. The Plattkofel and Langkofel tower above as you walk. After passing Sella Pass, the views open up and you get increasingly better perspectives of the Sella Group. By the end of the day, you'll reach the hut at Gardena Pass, where you can rest up for the next day.

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike from Col Rodella to Gardena Pass via Sella Pass
    Landmarks
    Sella Pass
    Sella Group
    Gardena Pass
  5. Day 5

    Gardena Pass

You'll start this day by taking the Dantercepies cable car, then hike through Selva toward the Puez Geisler National Park entrance. The route climbs up to a small chapel, passes through thick forest, and eventually opens into rocky, more exposed terrain that's good for spotting wildlife. The pass itself shows off the distinctive Dolomite rock formations, and from there you have wide views before heading back to Rifugio Frara at Gardena Pass.

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike from Dantercepies cable car through Puez Geisler National Park to Rifugio Frara

    Optional Activities

    • Dantercepies cable car (if not included in package)
    Landmarks
    Dantercepies Cable Car
    Puez Geisler National Park
  6. Day 6

    Gardena Pass to Passo Campolongo

From Gardena Pass, you'll hike upward toward the Sella Group. The path crosses a small river in Val de Mesdi and then drops steeply down. After that, gravel roads take you to Crep de Sela, where you'll climb sharply again toward Ristorante Boè. The final stretch moves through dramatic rock formations past Kaiserhütte, finishing on a gravel road at Passo Campolongo. This day has several elevation changes and some steep sections, so it's more challenging technically.

  7. Day 7

    Passo Campolongo to Canazei

You'll walk the Via del Pan, also known as the Bread Trail, which runs along the south side of the mountain ridge. This route is less steep than some previous days and offers nice views toward the Marmolada glacier and the Sella Group. By late afternoon you'll start the descent back to Canazei, and there's substantial elevation loss on this final leg, so take your time on the way down.
