Itinerary
- Day 1
Zermatt
You'll arrive in Zermatt, an alpine town positioned right at the base of the Matterhorn. After checking in, spend the rest of the day getting your bearings and taking in the views of this iconic peak that dominates the landscape around you.

- Day 2
Zermatt to Europahütte
Start the day by hiking toward Europahütte, though you have the option to take the funicular up to Sunnegga if you want to cut down on distance. Then you'll cross the Charles Kuonen suspension bridge, Europe's longest, which gives you great views of Weisshorn as you continue on to your mountain hut for the night.

Landmarks Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge Weisshorn - Day 3
Europahütte to Grächen
Today follows the Europaweg with quite a bit of ground to cover. The trail has been improved over time, but it's still a solid distance as you head downward toward Grächen, a charming mountain village where you'll end the day.

Grächen to Gruben
Catch a bus to St. Niklaus in the morning, then take the cable car up to Jungen, a small hamlet sitting high above Switzerland's deepest valley. From there, you'll follow an old trade route into the scenic Turtmann Valley, making your way toward Gruben.

Landmarks Mischabel Mountains - Day 5
Gruben to Hotel Weisshorn
After yesterday's descent, you'll climb steeply again to reach Meidpass at about 2,800 meters/9,186 feet, where you get nice views of both Bishorn and Weisshorn. Later in the day you arrive at Hotel Weisshorn, a historic place sitting high above Val d'Anniviers.

Landmarks Bishorn Weisshorn Meidpass - Day 6
Hotel Weisshorn to Grimentz to Cabanne des Becs de Bosson
Head down into Val d'Anniviers and you'll see Matterhorn views the whole way. Reach Grimentz by afternoon, then take a cable car up to Bendolla and hike to Cabanne des Becs de Bosson. By this point you've crossed into the French-speaking Lower Valais region.

Landmarks Matterhorn - Day 7
Cabanne des Becs de Bosson to Evolène
Finish your hiking with a long, gradual descent into Val d'Herens, passing through L'A Vieille and Volovron Alps. After walking through pastures and forests, you'll reach the small village of Evolène, then catch a bus to Sion where individual travel arrangements take over.
